What is the best way to structure a parent/child relationship across zoho Modules

Hello,

I don't think this is a unique chalenge, but I am struggling to find anything anywhere about this. I am setting up a CRM, first time using Zoho.

I am trying to relate 2 modules parent > child. with the below requirements. Both are 'contact modules' with the email being held in the child module (for email template workflow reasons)

  1. I want to be able to see the parent module name in the child module and the child module name in the parent module. I have related the modules using the multiselect lookup fields and checking the create relational database checkbox. This seems sensible but lacks the ability to update on CSV import or use as merge tags in templates.
  2. I want to be able to upload weekly csv imports that update the child module and when a new contact is found add new parent and child contacts to the modules I do not understand how on a CSV upload I can create the relationship with the parent module. or link the 2 together other than manually doing this after CSV upload and doing a seperate parent CSV upload prior to linking the modules.
  3. I want to be able to use the fields in merge tags in templates.
---------
Originally I had everything inside one module but this will cause oprerational problems in further sprints.
I have tried using sub forms because at least you can import CSV import data to a sub form but this again would requitre a very manual secondary proces of linking all uploads manually after import.
I have also tried using standard lookup fields but the present the same issues as the multiselect look ups.

Perhaps this is outside the scope of the standrd CRM capabilities and would require a rethingk of my process. I have considered Campaigns, Zoho Creator or some custom coding in the CRM. We are using Zoho One so any other options are within scope.

Please could I get some support from Zoho or any other qualified party
Many thanks
Alex
