What's New in Zoho Books – February 2022

We're here to kick-start 2022 with the year's first What's New post! Let's dive in:

Contextual Chat

You can now chat about transactions and records with the users of your organization, from within Zoho Books. Contextual chat is powered by Zoho Cliq, and provides instant notifications every time a user initiates a discussion. You can also share images and documents, and initiate audio or video calls with chat participants. Learn More.

To create contextual chats: Go to a transaction or record's details page and click the Contextual Chat icon in the top right.

Tax Rules (Global)

You can now create a set of tax rules to automate taxes in Zoho Books. These rules will be used to apply tax rates to transactions automatically. In Zoho Books, you can create tax rules for a specific contact or product, or create default tax rules.

To enable tax rules: Go to Settings > Taxes > Tax Settings. Check the Enable Advanced Tax Automation to manage location-specific tax rates and automate tax applied on transactions option.

Client and Vendor Portal Signup

Previously, you had to invite each of your customers and vendors to access the client/vendor portal. Now, we've provided an option where your customers can sign up for the client portal by themselves, from an invoice or estimate's payment page, or from the client portal's sign-in page. Likewise, your vendors can signup from the vendor portal's sign-in page.

To enable client/vendor signup: Go to Settings > Preferences > Portal > Check the Allow customers to sign up to the Client Portal option.

Enhanced Payable Summary and Payable Details Reports

We've introduced an option to customize the Payable Summary and Payable Details reports, and save them as separate reports in Zoho Books. You can also view these reports with the customizations that you made.
