What's New in Zoho Inventory | January - March 2026

Hello users,

The first quarter of 2026 has been dynamic! We’ve shipped a powerful set of updates in Zoho Inventory to enhance item control, improve warehouse efficiency, expand integration and reporting capabilities. From a unified item creation experience to advanced reporting tags and AI-powered insights, these updates are built to make your day-to-day inventory management smoother and more powerful.

Item Management & Pricing Control

Item and Item Groups Unification

We've unified the way you create and manage items and their variants. Previously, items and item groups were managed as separate modules. Now, you can create an item and its variants from a single item creation page in the Items module. When creating a new item, choose whether it is a single item or if it contains variants. If you select Contains Variants, you can define variant attributes (such as size, colour, material, etc.,) and generate all variant combinations right from the same page.

You will also notice a refreshed item list view with a collapsed and expanded mode, a new multi-image component for uploading and managing multiple images, and an improved auto population of item details in the items table that displays items followed by their variants for quicker selection in transactions.

Note: This flow will only be available for newly created organizations. For existing organizations with the old flow, these changes will be introduced soon.

Introducing Unit Groups [Early Access]

Unit Conversions have been moved into a new tab called Unit Groups. You can now create Unit Groups (for example, "Weight" containing kg, g, lb) where each item can then be associated with a specific unit group, and you can set different conversions from the same base unit for an item. This gives you flexibility when dealing with items that are purchased in one unit and sold in a different unit.

Note: If Unit Groups is not available in your organization, contact support@zohoniventory.com to get it enabled.

To add unit groups: Go to Settings > Module Settings > Under Inventory, select Units of Measurement and click + New Unit Group.

Batch Price Management

You can set different prices for your batch tracked items instead of using a single price for selling all batch items. This ensures each sale reflects your preferred price even when batches vary in MRP. You can choose how prices are selected during each transaction. It can be the item's default price, highest price across batches, latest price, or price from rate list. You can also set sales margins at the item or organization level for default price calculation, saving time.

During transactions, the system applies the right batch price. It also splits line items when multiple batches for the selected have different prices and quantities.

To enable: Go to Settings > under Module Settings select Items > scroll down to Advanced Inventory Tracking in general tab> check Allow different MRP/Selling price for each Batch Tracked Items.

Profit Margin Calculation

Profit margin is the percentage of money you actually keep as profit from a sale after subtracting the cost price and any discount. Cost price of an item can be derived from multiple sources like Item details, Purchase bills, Inventory Valuation Methods like FIFO and WAC, or a custom rate depending on the item type. This feature allows you to view estimated profit margins directly within Sales Orders and Invoices giving you instant visibility into profitability before confirming a transaction. You can also view profit margin in Receivables report like Sales Order Details, and Invoice Details. This feature is available only for Premium and Enterprise plans.

To enable profit margin: Go to Settings > Under General, check Profit Margin.

Warehouse Operations

Count Stocks on Web

Counting stocks is no longer limited to the mobile app. You can now start, perform, and submit stock counts directly from the web application. The web interface offers two views:

Items View: See your items in a list and enter the counted quantity for each item. You can use filters, search, and even scan barcodes to locate items quickly.
Bins View: Navigate through your bin locations and count the stock stored in each bin.

Once the stock count is complete, you can review the results, compare counted vs. expected quantities, and submit the stock count for adjustment. Stock counts can also be saved as drafts and resumed later.

To start a counting a stock count: Go to Inventory on the left sidebar > Stock Counts > Select the stock count you want to count > Click Start Counting.

Enhancements in Purchase Receives and Bills

  • Purchase Receives and Bills can be done partially or in excess than what was originally ordered in the purchase order. You can also create partial receives or bills even at the line item level.

To enable excess receive: Go to Settings > Module Settings > Under Purchases select Purchase Receives > General and check the "Receive Quantity more than specified in purchase order" option.

  • You can also map the standalone bills and purchase receives later that belong to the same purchase order. Go to the associated bill or purchase receive and edit it. You can then click the Edit Quantity icon and map the bills with receives or vice versa.

Group Picklists

Introducing Group Picklists to help streamline your picking operations. When creating pick lists, you now have three options:
  • No Grouping: Creates the entire picklist under one assignee.
  • By Item: Creates picklists with the flexibility to assign different assignees for each item.
  • By Sales Order: Creates picklist with the flexibility to assign different assignees for individual sales order.
To group picklist: Go to Inventory on the left sidebar > Select Picklists > + New > select the required grouping in the Group dropdown.

Data Management and Reports

Introducing Advanced Reporting Tags

You can use reporting tags at a more granular level to categorize better and analyze your data. Tags can be applied at both the transaction and line-item level. You can also mark tags as mandatory.
These tags can be associated with items, customers, vendors, and transactions, helping you filter and track data with more precision. You can organize options in a parent-child hierarchy (for example, Region > Country > City), control their visibility based on other tags or locations, and restrict user access based on tag associations. You can create a maximum of 5000 options in a tag. You can also include reporting tags in PDF and email templates using placeholders, and use them across reports to filter, compare data, and gain deeper insights for better decision-making.

To configure: Go to Settings > under Customization select Reporting Tags.

Stock Movement Report

We've added the Stock Movement Report, giving you a detailed view of how stock moves across warehouses, customers, and vendors within a selected date range. This report captures every transaction that impacts stock, making it easier to trace item's movement type as inward or outward.

To access the stock movement report: Go to Reports > under Inventory category select Stock Movement.

Inventory Turnover Report

Two new Inventory Turnover reports have been introduced:
  • Inventory Turnover by Amount: This report is under Inventory Valuation Category, it calculates the turnover ratio as COGS / Average Inventory Value, helping you understand how effectively you are converting your inventory investment into sales.
To access this report: Go to Reports > select Inventory Valuation Category > Inventory Turnover by Amount.
  • Inventory Turnover by Quantity: This report is  under Inventory Category, it calculates the turnover ratio as Total Quantity Sold /Average Inventory Quantity, giving you a volume-based view of inventory efficiency.
To access this report: Go to Reports > select Inventory Category > Inventory Turnover by Quantity.

Zia Insights in Reports

Zia Insights have been added in reports, enabling quick, descriptive analysis of your business data. Powered by Zia, Zoho’s in-house AI, these insights highlight key patterns and trends, to help you make faster, data-driven decisions.

Date Range Filter for Custom Reports

Custom reports now support a date range filter, allowing you to narrow down your report data to a specific period. This makes it easier to generate focused reports without manually filtering rows each time.

Enhanced Shopify Integration

Minor Enhancements

  • Multi Language Support for Amount in Words in PDF Templates: The Amount in Words field is now available across all languages supported in Zoho. To use this feature, add the %TotalInWords_(langCode)% placeholder in the template's attention content.

  • Edit Total Quantity Required in Assemblies: You can edit Total Quantity Required of the associated items when you create an assembly. The system automatically recalculates dependent values like Quantity Required and Quantity to Assemble giving you more control over assembly creations.

  • Bulk Write-Off for Invoices [extended to India Edition]: You can now write off multiple invoices at once by selecting them in supported views. The write-off date and reason are applied in bulk, and the process is completed asynchronously with a notification upon completion.

  • Negative Adjustment Cost Visibility: Cost price for negative inventory adjustments is now displayed directly on the adjustment details page. This removes the need to refer to the Inventory Valuation Summary report for each line item. A warning message is shown if inventory valuation is in progress, indicating that the cost may not yet be final.

  • Zero Cost Price in Quantity Adjustment: You can now set the cost price as zero during positive quantity adjustments. The system will respect the manually entered value and will not update it with the price of recent transactions.
