What's New this November 2019 in Zoho Books?

Hello, users!

Last month, we came up with a number of updates to enhance your online accounting experience. Now let's take a look at all the new updates that Zoho Books has to offer this month.

View template in a gallery pane

You can now choose the templates to be associated with an invoice from the side pane which is in a gallery layout. Just hover over the template you wish to choose. We have also provided a search bar so that you can easily find your desired template.

To associate a template: Go to the invoice you want to associate the template with, then click Change at the bottom of the page.

Horizontal Profit and Loss report (India)

You can view your profit and loss account based on income and expense along with stock details such as opening stock, closing stock, and purchases. This report categorizes your income and expenses and gives a clear picture of the company's performance.

To check this report: Go to Reports, then Horizontal Profit and Loss.

Custom field usage stats

The number of custom fields that an organization can use is limited. To help you keep track of them, we have implemented custom field usage stats that show the number of custom fields created, remaining, and per entity.

To view custom field usage: Go to Settings > Preferences > the entity in which you want to check the custom fields > Field Customization.

Total Taxable Amount in invoices and credit notes

We have introduced the Total Taxable Amount field in the predefined templates for invoices and credit notes. You can also show, hide, and edit the label name under the Total section in the predefined template's edit page. As of now, this feature is not available in the Spreadsheet Plus and Retail templates.

To display the total taxable amount: Go to Settings, then Templates. Select the desired template, click Total, and mark the Total Taxable Amount box.

Debit and Credit columns in Trial Balance

We have introduced Debit and Credit columns. These new columns will hold only the debit total value and credit total value of the specified report period respectively.

To see the debit and credit values: Go to Reports, then Trial Balance.

View line item images

If you add item images at the time of creating items, you can now view the item images in each line item while creating purchase orders, bills, recurring bills, and vendor credits in Zoho Books. You can click an item image to preview it.

To see line item images: Go to the desired module and click + New, then Add Items.

ICICI Bank current account balance in the banking section (India)

If you are an ICICI Bank current account user, and you have integrated your ICICI Bank account with Zoho Books, then you can check your account balance right from the Banking module in Zoho Books. As of now, this option is visible only for ICICI Bank accounts for which you've enabled direct feeds.

To check your balance: Go to Banking > ICICI Bank Account > Check account balance.
