Why am I being told I don't have any available customized fields?

Why am I being told I don't have any available customized fields?

Hey all,

I'm a free edition user....well, at least I'm trying to be a free edition user, however, for the last 3 hours I've been trying to customize the 25 customizable fields.  Initially, I was able to add them, but then I went to save the work I'd done, and the system stayed in a loop never saving.  That resulted in my using the back button, but after inputting 11 customized fields, and it no longer permitting me to save, I then tried to enter the custom fields tab rather than layout.  Though I only had 11 customized fields at the time, it popped up an error message stating that I had no more available.  Well, I rethought my layout and permanently deleted my customized field entries and tried to start over, and now, I apparently have no customized fields available.

I'm not sure what do do now.....any thoughts?
