Why is there no 'Switch to' mail in my apps list?

Why is there no 'Switch to' mail in my apps list?

When Im using any apps such as writer docs, sheet,etc, I can't see the mail option in the switch to menu. Everyting else is there, but no 'mail' I have to go to the url separately. Is that intemtional, why? what am I missing?
