I was pretty disappointed to find out today that background widgets using native modal validation simply aren’t supported on mobile.

Extension specs: Zoho Books Sales Orders • Background widget • ON_SALESORDER_PRE_SAVE + ON_SALESORDER_PREVIEW • Validates line-item pricing against the default item price • 10% configurable threshold • Uses native Zoho confirmation modal • No sidebar/UI dependency

At this point, it’s getting increasingly difficult to justify keeping clients on Zoho when core functionality is inconsistently supported across platforms, and developers aren’t even given the tools to build around those limitations ourselves.

That’s the most frustrating part. Zoho has enormous potential, but it keeps pigeonholing its own platform. If a feature isn’t going to be supported natively, at least give developers the APIs, events, or extension hooks needed to solve the problem ourselves.

Instead, we keep running into situations where the answer is effectively: “You can’t do that on mobile, and you can’t build it yourself either.”

That needs to change.
