Wizard support extended for portals

Dear All,
We're here with an exciting enhancement to help make record entries easier for your portal users: portals will now support wizards!
Portals, as most of you know, help you extend your CRM access to external users like contacts, customers, clients, and vendors. They can log into their portals, access various modules, web tabs, and perform actions as permitted by your organization and defined by their permissions—like creating, updating, adding new records, and so on.
Creating lengthy record entries can be overwhelming and tedious, and may lead to errors in your CRM. This is where wizards are helpful, as they offer an intuitive way of collecting data that breaks down long forms into multiple sections, enabling you to save your progress so you can complete it as and when possible. Furthermore, wizards also enable you to set up various conditional rules, like showing fields based on previously entered values, and much more.

With wizard support in portals, you can make this simple and well-structured data collection process available to customers and other portal user types.
In the insurance industry, for example, data is collect at multiple points, such as for insurance claims, applications for reimbursement, and so on. This can be overwhelming, as the process for each scenario is determined by various factors, such as the type of insurance, medical history (for medical insurance), or vehicle details (for vehicular insurance). The customers can also use it to track details like the date of the last monthly payment, or change plans and determine the estimated amount that can be claimed based on the damage incurred.
To ease the whole process, you can now configure your portal user types and select a specific wizard for the module. Portal users can now add details related to the same record in multiple wizard pages and save them as needed.

On the wizard end, you can change the permission to allow a specific portal user type have access to your wizard.

Points to remember
  • Custom buttons will not be supported in portal. Even if a portal user has access to a wizard that has a custom button, that button will not be visible to them.
  • Profile-based hide buttons are not applicable in portals.
