Work order suddenly defaulting to account rather than contact

In our business we attach all Work Orders to a Contact rather than to the account.  This allows us to look at contact requests and orders, rather than just the account requests.  It also pulls contact information correctly when done this way.

It has been working fine for hundreds of work orders, then suddenly yesterday it stopped connecting them to contacts and started only connecting them to the account.  This is a huge problem for our organization, as now the work order is not able to be tracked back to the contact that requested it to be done.
