Workflow rule on task completion

Hi,

I need to notify various contacts that are associated with the task that the task has been completed. I was hoping that i could create a workflow rule for this but as far as I can tell activities are missing from the record type in the Workflow rules UI.

Can anyone suggest a workaround or another process to notify system users and contacts that cases and tasks are completed?
