Hello all,
We are delighted to inform you that Zoho Campaigns now supports 10DLC.
As you might be aware, Zoho Campaigns already enables businesses in the US to run SMS campaigns via long code. However, we now support 10DLC (more on 10DLC below). We recommend Zoho Campaigns customers planning to send SMS campaigns in the US via long code to complete the industry-standard 10DLC registration process. This step plays a crucial role in curbing SMS spam and fraud significantly.
US telecom companies are requiring businesses to complete the 10DLC registration process to protect consumers, increase deliverability, and boost customer engagement.
What is 10DLC?
10DLC (10-digit long code) is a type of long code that enables businesses to send mass SMS messages to their customers. These numbers are local long-code numbers that are approved by mobile network operators for A2P (application to person) SMS messaging.
How can businesses register for 10DLC?
This approval comes about by registering the local long-code number with a verified 10DLC brand and an approved 10DLC campaign.
What are the benefits of registering with 10DLC?
It's essential for businesses to register their long code number with a 10DLC brand to improve their SMS deliverability rate.
Here are some advantages to using a registered 10DLC for your business texting needs.
Familiarity to recipients: Typical 10-digit phone numbers are familiar to customers as they use and see them daily. This can result in higher open rates and better engagement. Moreover, you can choose an area code or text-enable your existing voice-only number (like a landline or VoIP) for A2P messaging. This can result in higher open rates and better engagement.
Improved deliverability and throughput: Registered 10DLC numbers are designed for high message throughput, resulting in fast and reliable message delivery. This helps ensure your messages reach your intended recipients promptly.
Cost-effective solution: 10DLC numbers are typically more accessible and cost-effective compared to short codes, making them a budget-friendly option for SMS and MMS messaging campaigns.
Scalable solution: 10DLC numbers offer scalability for businesses of all sizes, from small businesses to large enterprises, allowing businesses to tailor messaging campaigns to their specific needs and goals.
How can businesses get started with 10DLC?
Here are the steps businesses in the US must follow to send SMS messages via 10DLC.
1. Purchase long codes: Businesses can purchase long codes via Zoho Campaigns and use that code to trigger SMS campaigns directly from our product. Please refer to the following document to learn
how to purchase long codes.
2. Register with a 10DLC brand: Businesses must register their long code number with an authorized 10DLC brand.
There is a one-time fee for this. Businesses have to pay a one-time fee of $4 through SMS credits to register a brand. This is a pass-through fee applied by the Campaign Registry. Check
our document for more details.
The Campaign Registry is a government mandated independent agency that manages 10DLC brands and campaigns. They mediate between mobile network operators and businesses.
Please refer to the following document on how to register a 10DLC brand.
3. Create a 10DLC Campaign: The next step is to create a 10DLC campaign. Before that, businesses must create a brand to enable a 10DLC campaign and send SMS messages, because every campaign is associated with a brand.
Businesses must also select a use case before launching a campaign to highlight the purpose of the SMS campaign. Starting from poll/voting to emergency alerts, businesses can choose different types of use cases. They need to purchase monthly credits based on the use cases they select. Here is a
document that has more details on this.
4. Associate a number with a brand: Every brand must be associated with a long code number. One business can create multiple brands with different long code numbers. However, every brand and campaign must be associated with a specific long code number.
We again insist businesses register with 10DLC for sending SMS campaigns, as we'll not be allowing businesses to send SMS campaigns without 10DLC registration in the imminent future.
