Zoho Commerce currently only allows merchants to define the United Kingdom as a single shipping zone, which creates a significant issue for businesses operating between the EU and the UK. Under the Northern Ireland Protocol, Northern Ireland follows EU rules for goods, meaning it must be treated differently from Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales) for VAT, customs, and fulfilment. For merchants in Ireland, this creates a situation where shipping to Northern Ireland cannot be configured correctly without classifying it as part of the UK, which is technically incorrect and can lead to compliance risks, incorrect tax handling, and operational workarounds.
Introducing Northern Ireland as a separate shipping territory, and a “United Kingdom excluding Northern Ireland” option, would resolve this issue and align Zoho Commerce with post-Brexit trading realities. It would enable EU-based merchants to sell to Northern Ireland accurately and confidently, reduce manual intervention and errors, and unlock additional revenue opportunities that are currently being avoided due to complexity. This is a practical, real-world requirement rather than an edge case, and addressing it would significantly improve the platform’s suitability for European businesses.
Another option might be to list England, Scotland, Wales and Nothern Ireland as States under United Kingdom as there are are currently no options here.
Many shipping providers also charge more to ship to the Scotish Highlands and surounding islands, that does not seem to be accounted for here either.
