Hello,

In current structure, Zoho CRM send records to approval based on record creation and edit. 

I think, it should be to set approval process trigger based on any field update in record. When the user update any field, the record can assign to approval process. When we set approval process in current situation all of edits assign to approval.

Also, approval process is working as well for automatic record updates based on custom functions. These should be keep out of approval process.
