Zoho CRM Functions: Redesigned Interface, Rich Analytics, and Multi-Language Support

Zoho CRM Functions: Redesigned Interface, Rich Analytics, and Multi-Language Support

Hello everyone!

We have given Functions in Zoho CRM a major overhaul with a new interface that makes it easier to build, organize, monitor, and troubleshoot your functions throughout their lifecycle. As part of this revamp, we have also introduced a unified function association experience across Zoho CRM. You can now have a consistent view with search and filter capabilities, making it quicker and easier to find the right functions.

Alongside these enhancements, this release expands the Functions platform with Python runtime support, complementing the existing support for Java, Node.js, and Deluge.

What's new?

Mini Dashboard per function

Each function now has its own workspace with Overview, Analytics, Revision History, Logs, Failures, and Associations, giving you everything you need to monitor, debug, and manage your functions in one place.

The Overview section provides the function details and REST API accessibility with a unified view of where a function is used across your organization. You can:
  1. View all the entities where the function is associated and filter them by module or category.
  2. Track References to identify other components or functions that use the function.
  3. Review Dependencies to see the required functions and connections needed for the function to run.

A smarter Functions tab with custom views

The Functions tab now provides more information at a glance, making it easier to organize and manage your functions. You can sort by name, API name, created time, or modified time, and filter by language, category, or runtime.

If you frequently use the same combination of sort and filters, save them as a custom view.

The Functions tab includes built-in views such as All Functions, My Functions, Associated, Unassociated, Standalone, and Extension Functions, and you can create your own to match your workflow.

When creating a custom view, you can filter by any combination of function name, API name, category, tags, language, runtime, REST API status, association status, created by, and more.

You can also organize functions with tags. Select one or more functions to quickly add or remove tags in bulk, making it easier to categorize and manage related functions across your organization.

Once saved, you can edit, clone, or delete views from the Manage Views panel.

Notes
Note

Recently created functions include Created Time, Modified Time and Created By which will be used for sorting and custom views.

Rich Analytics

Track total invocations, success/failure rates, credit consumption, execution time, execution by language, source, module, and more, all with visual charts across a 30-day window.

Multi-language support

Build functions in the redesigned Functions IDE, now with support for Python alongside Java and Node.js. Choose your runtime, write from scratch, or upload a ZIP file from your favorite external editor.

Functions will support the following runtimes:
  1. Node.js 22
  2. Java 17
  3. Python 3.12
Notes
Note

Support for Node.js 24, Python 3.13, and Java 25 will be added within 2 months.

Functions built in Java, Node.js, and Python include Zoho Request Client (ZRC), the same built-in HTTP client available in Widgets and Client Scripts. Use ZRC to call Zoho CRM APIs, other Zoho services, and third-party APIs. For Zoho CRM API calls, ZRC automatically handles authentication, eliminating the need to configure a base URL or connection.

The new Functions experience is now being rolled out to all the data centers in phases over the next two weeks. Try it out and let us know what you think!

Roadmap

We are already working on several enhancements to make functions even more powerful:
  1. Invoke API in User Mode for log-in user scoped Zoho CRM API calls.
  2. User-Based Connections so each user can authenticate using their own credentials.
  3. Advanced Logs UI with richer debugging and log visibility.
  4. AI Driven Development for faster building.
On to Better Building!
