We are using the Zoho CRM and Zoho Projects APIs to automatically create a project in Zoho Projects and then associate that project with the relevant Deal in Zoho CRM.

The API process is working in that the project is created successfully and appears in the Zoho Projects related list on the CRM Deal.

The issue is that when the project is associated with the Deal through the API, the customer/contact related to that Deal is also being added to the Zoho Projects portal as a client user and receives a portal invitation email.

In our case, this is not the desired behaviour.

These projects are mainly used internally for scheduling and operational purposes. We want the project to remain linked to the CRM Deal so that our team can move easily between CRM and Projects, but we do not want the customer to be given access to the Zoho Projects portal or receive an invitation.

When associating a project manually through the CRM interface, it appears possible to control which client users are added to the project. We are trying to achieve the same outcome when making the association through the API.

Our desired API process is:

• Create the project in Zoho Projects

• Associate the project with the correct CRM Deal

• Keep the normal CRM Deal / Zoho Projects relationship

• Do not add the Deal contact as a Zoho Projects client user

• Do not send the customer a Zoho Projects portal invitation

Is there a supported API method or parameter which allows a Zoho Projects project to be associated with a CRM Deal without automatically adding or inviting the Deal contact as a client user?

If there is a specific endpoint, parameter, or recommended approach for this, any guidance would be appreciated.
