Zoho Sheet Remote API as DDE?

I am not geek, so maybe this question doesn't have a sense.
Anyhow, could I use Zoho Sheet Remote API to write data to zoho sheet from the third party application, or write data to the third part application from zoho sheet?
Something similar to DDE feature, Excel has.
