ZOHO VO Licensing Terms
ZOHO VO Licensing Terms
After evaluating several products, I must say your Virtual Office really stands out and we'd love to implement it in our (small) company. The only thing that's keeping us from doing so, is your licensing model.
If we understand correctly, we pay a yearly renewable licensing fee which gives us the right to use your product for the duration of that specific licensing period. Moreover, paragraph 12 of the License Agreement reads:
AdventNet may terminate this Agreement for any reason, including but not limited to your breach of any of the terms of this Agreement. Upon termination, you shall destroy or return to AdventNet all copies of the Licensed Software and certify in writing that all know copies have been destroyed.
Which in effect means that at any time there is a possibility that we are either legally or physically (does your software stop working after non-renewal of the yearly rental period?) stopped from using your software further, for example because you sell the rights of your product to another company, you go out of business or you choose to raise the prices tenfold.
This is an unexceptable risk for software so central to the functioning of an organization, and I'm having a hard time convincing our management.
Don't get me wrong, the price is perfectly reasonable, even as an yearly upgrade fee. It's just that we want to be absolutely sure that that there is some kind of guaranty that we can use your product for as long as we want and need.
Perhaps you can offer Virtual Office under a different, more classical licensing scheme? Or does it make a difference if we are situated in Europe?
I'm looking forward to your answer, Brian
