How to download an email as an EML file

When you contact Zoho support for account-related requests, you may be asked to share either:
  1. A verification email sent to the mailbox associated with the account you want to recover, or
  2. The latest automated email you have received from Zoho in that mailbox.
    You need to download this email as an .eml file and share it with our support team.
An .eml file is the raw format of an email message. It contains the complete email, including the subject, sender, recipients, body, and email headers. These headers contain authentication information, such as the DKIM signature, which helps to verify the authenticity and integrity of an email.

Sharing the .eml file helps us:
  1. Confirm that you have access to the account's mailbox.
  2. Verify the authenticity of the email.
  3. Process your account recovery request securely.

Do not edit an .eml file before sending it to us, as any changes may invalidate the verification.

Follow the steps below to download the email as an .eml file from your email provider.

Zoho Mail

  1. Open the verification email in Zoho Mail.
  2. Click the Show more actions icon at the top-right corner of the email.
  3. Select Save as, then click EML (.eml file).

Gmail

  1. Open the verification email in Gmail.
  2. Click the More icon at the top-right corner of the email.
  3. Click Download message, and the email will be downloaded as an .eml format.

Outlook (web)

  1. Open the verification email in Outlook.
  2. Click the More actions icon at the top-right corner of the email.
  3. Select Download and click Download as EML.

  1. Open the verification email in Apple Mail.
  2. Drag the email from the message list to your desktop or another folder.
  3. The email is automatically saved as an .eml file.



Save manually
  1. Open the verification email in Apple Mail.
  2. On the menu bar, click File, then select Save As.
  3. Set file format to Raw Message Source.
  4. Save the file to your preferred location.
