The domain {domain_name} is restricted by the domain owner.
Description
You may face the following errors:
- You cannot sign up with an email address having the domain 'xyz.com' as it is restricted by the domain owner. - when you are trying to sign up for a Zoho account.
- You cannot add an email address having the domain 'xyz.com' as it is restricted by the domain owner. - when you are trying to add an email address to your Zoho account.
What happened
Once the organization admin adds a domain to the organization and verifies ownership of the domain, the organization admin is considered as the domain owner. So, as the domain owner, the administrator can restrict anyone from using their domain name.
If the admin has restricted the external usage of the domain name:
- No one can sign up for a personal account using their domain.
- No one can add an email address to their account using their domain name.
- Users can sign up and join the organization only through an invite from the organization admin (i.e., the domain owner).
For example, if an organization owns the domain "xyz.com" and they have restricted external usage of their domain, then you won't be able to sign up for a Zoho account using an email address like "john@xyz.com." or add a secondary/recovery email address using the domain name ''xyz.com''. How to resolve
If you want to sign up or add an email address with a restricted domain name, contact the organization admin who owns the domain. If you don't know who the organization admin is, write to us at
support@zohoaccounts.com for further assistance.
