How to customize your event domain in Zoho Backstage

Custom Domain

Create a unique identity for your event by customizing the way it's branded, thereby boosting visibility to target audiences. Although we enable you to choose a subdomain under the default domain zohobackstage.com, to host all your events, you can map another custom domain at anytime.

Let's say you are conducting events for the company Zylker. First, you would map the portal to your domain say, www.zylkerevents.com, or even a subdomain like events.zylker.com. Then, you could start hosting all your events on completely re-branded event microsites.

  1. Go to Portal Settings > Branding > Custom Domain tab, from the Portal page.
  2. Enter your new domain in the Map your custom domain section.
  3. Create a record for CNAME in the DNS settings of your domain registrar with the help of the reference information provided in the Map your custom domain section. For example, www and backstage.cs.zohohost.com
Note: If your domain is a part of EU or IN, then modify the latter portion of the record to .eu or .in respectively.
  4. Ensure that an SSL certificate is installed for your domain, and check that it is renewed. If this is in place, your custom domain will be mapped automatically. You can also click the Verify button to do this.
    • If an SSL certificate is unavailable, click the Apply Domain SSL Certificate button. Backstage will install a group SSL certificate for you for free.
Note: This process will take up to 3-5 business days.

Note:
  1. To redirect visitors from https://zylkerevents.com/ to https://www.zylkerevents.com/, after your SSL certificate is verified, create a record in the DNS settings of your domain registrar to enable domain forwarding.
  2. You can also set up a custom domain for a specific event. Go to the event and click Manage Dashboard in the Event Console. Next, click the Branding tab to set up a custom domain for that event.

Verify custom domain mapping manually

When the automatic verification of your custom domain is not successful, you can choose to verify it manually.

  1. Go to Portal Settings > Branding > Custom Domain tab, from the Portal page.
  2. Open the Verify Custom Domain Mapping section.
  3. Click the Verify Domain Mapping button.

Note:
  1. To verify a custom domain, ensure that you have the following in place:
    1. Entered the correct domain name
    2. Added the CNAME information in the DNS settings of your domain registrar
    3. Installed an SSL certificate for your domain
  2. You can also verify your custom domain for a specific event. To do this, go to that event, then go to Portal Settings > Branding > Custom Domain tab.
  3. If you have any questions about customizing your domain, write to us at support@zohobackstage.com
