How to charge GST for events hosted in India – Zoho Backstage

GST — India

Goods and services tax (GST) is a tax levied by the central and state governments of India on registered businesses that provide services in the country. All businesses should pay a certain amount to the central government and the state government where the business is located. In addition to this, an extra amount should be paid to the central government during interstate business transactions. Event organizers should also pay GST to both the central and state governments when they host events in India. To learn how much GST you should charge your attendees, please check with a tax expert or a local tax authority.

The GST will be added to the total amount you collect from attendees, and will be included in the gross sales for your event. You can view the complete breakdown of the tax in the Registrations > Overview > Orders tab of each event. Once the event is over, you must pay the tax amount collected through ticket sales to the appropriate tax authorities.

Note: Ensure that you set a payment mode and make India as your organization country before enabling GST for your portal.
