Overview
Companion Tickets let attendees register additional participants along with a primary ticket. This is useful when a ticket holder needs to bring guests, assistants, caregivers, or accompanying delegates.
Companion tickets are linked to one or more primary ticket classes and are available only when an eligible primary ticket is selected. You can control pricing, discounts, availability, and how many companion tickets can be added per primary ticket.
Example use cases
- Guest access: Allow attendees to bring a guest to a conference or networking event
- Caregiver or assistant access: Enable attendees to register a support person
- Family accompaniment: Allow participants to bring family members
- Additional delegates: Let premium or sponsor passes include accompanying participants
- Allow additional participants during registration
- Restrict companion tickets to selected primary ticket classes
- Limit the number of companion tickets per primary ticket
Before creating a companion ticket, make sure at least one primary ticket class already exists in your event.
Adding a Companion Ticket

- Navigate to Registrations > Setup > Ticket Class from the Dock.
- Open the dropdown next to Add Ticket Class.
- Click Add Companion Ticket. The Add Companion Ticket side panel will appear.

- Provide the following details:

- Color: Choose a color to visually identify the ticket.
- Quantity: Specify how many companion tickets can be sold. You can choose either of the following:
- No Limit – Allows unlimited companion registrations, subject to your event capacity and attendee credit limits
- Limited quantity – Lets you define a specific number of companion tickets available for sale
- If your event has attendee credit restrictions, the system will display the current capacity note and a link to purchase additional attendee credits if needed.
- Price: Set the ticket price. You can choose either of the following:
- Paid – Enter a price for the companion ticket
- Free – Offer the companion ticket at no cost
- Primary Ticket Classes: Select the ticket classes that should allow access to this companion ticket. Only attendees registering with the selected primary ticket classes will be able to add this companion ticket during registration.
- Status: Choose the current availability of the companion ticket. Available statuses include:
- Open – The companion ticket is available for registration
- Closed – The companion ticket is not currently available
- Marked as Sold Out – The ticket is shown as unavailable because it has sold out or is intentionally being presented as unavailable
- Companion Limit per Primary Ticket: Enter the maximum number of companion tickets that each primary ticket holder can register. For example, if you set this value to 2, each attendee who registers with an eligible primary ticket can add up to two companion tickets during checkout.
- Description: Enter a description for the companion ticket if needed. This can help explain who the ticket is for or what it includes.
- Click Done.
The companion ticket will now appear in a separate Companion Tickets section on the Ticket Class page.
How companion tickets work
Companion tickets are not standalone ticket classes. They depend on the primary ticket classes selected during setup. This means:
- A companion ticket can be linked to one or more primary ticket classes
- A registrant must first select an eligible primary ticket to access the companion ticket
- The number of companion tickets that can be added depends on the Add-on Limit per Primary Ticket
- Companion tickets can have their own price, quantity, and status independent of the primary ticket
For example, if you create a Guest Pass companion ticket and link it to the Delegate Pass, attendees purchasing the Delegate Pass can also add the Guest Pass during registration. Attendees using other ticket classes will not see that companion option unless those classes are also linked.
You can create promo codes for companion tickets under Registrations > Setup > Promo Codes.
Companion ticket registrations consume attendee credits.

Companion ticket registrations consume attendee credits.
Linking a Companion Ticket to Multiple Primary Ticket Classes
A companion ticket can be associated with more than one primary ticket class.
For example, you might want the same companion ticket to be available to attendees registering with:
- VIP Pass
- General Admission
- Speaker Pass
In this case, you can select multiple primary ticket classes in the Primary Ticket Classes field while creating or editing the companion ticket. This reduces duplication and helps you manage a single companion ticket across multiple eligible ticket types.
Managing Companion Ticket Status
The Status field controls whether the companion ticket is available during registration.
- Open: Use this when the companion ticket should be available for eligible attendees.
- Closed: Use this when you want to temporarily stop registrations for the companion ticket without deleting it.
- Marked as Sold Out: Use this when the ticket should appear unavailable due to exhausted availability or when you want to communicate that it is no longer open for registration.
Status changes can be made at any time by editing the companion ticket.
Deleting a Companion Ticket
If a companion ticket is no longer needed, you can delete it.
- Navigate to Registrations > Setup > Ticket Class from the Dock.
- Under the Companion Tickets section, click the More Options icon for the ticket.
- Click Delete.
- Confirm deletion in the dialog box.

After deletion, attendees will no longer be able to register for that companion ticket on the event website.
A companion ticket class cannot be deleted if that ticket class has already received registrations.
