How to authenticate your email domain in Zoho Backstage

Authenticating an email domain

Prevent event emails you send from going to spam by authenticating your email domain. Domain authentication also prevents forgery and phishing.

Add email domain

Generate the TXT record values for SPF and DKIM verification by adding your email's domain in Backstage. The latter part of your email address is its domain. For example, if your email address is mark.gates@zylker.com, then your email's domain is zylker.com.

  1. Click the Settings tab in the top bar of your portal.
  2. Click Branding.
  3. Click Domain authentication.
  4. Click the Add Domain button. The Add Domain panel will display.
  5. Enter the domain of your email in the Domain name textbox. For example, if your email address is mark.gates@zylker.com, then your domain will be zylker.com.
  6. Click the Add button.
Note:
  1. The domain name that you add should either be used by the portal's administrator or the primary contact you've set for event communications.
  2. You can also authenticate your email domain in the Branding tab of your event's Manage dashboard.

Verify SPF for your domain

SPF (Sender Policy Framework) is an open, DNS-based email authentication system that allows your email domain to choose which IP addresses can send emails on your behalf.
Add the TXT record value generated here to the SPF record in your domain's DNS settings to verify it. Learn more.

  1. Click the Settings tab in the top bar of your portal.
  2. Click Branding.
  3. Click Domain Authentication.
  4. Click the Verify link in the SPF section. The Verify SPF panel will display.
  5. Click the Copy button in the TXT record to be added section to copy the text record values.
  6. Paste the TXT record values copied from here in your domain's DNS settings and click Publish.
Note: If the SPF record already exists in your domain's DNS settings, add include:zcsend.net to the record.
  7. Click the Verify button in the Verify SPF panel.
Note: DNS setup usually updates within 24-48 hours. Your email domain will be verified only after the update is complete.

Verify DKIM for your domain

DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail) is an open, DNS-based email authentication system that is used to ensure that an email has not been altered in transmission.
Add the Host Name and TXT record value generated here to your domain's DNS settings to verify it. Learn more.

  1. Click the Settings tab in the top bar of your portal.
  2. Click Branding.
  3. Click Domain Authentication.
  4. Click the Verify link in the DKIM section. The Verify DKIM panel will display.
  5. Click the Copy button in the Host name section to copy the host name of your domain.
  6. Click the Copy button in the TXT record to be added section to copy the text record values.
  7. Paste the TXT record values copied from here in your domain's DNS settings and click Publish.
  8. Click the Verify button in the Verify DKIM panel.
Note: DNS setup usually updates within 24-48 hours. Your email domain will be verified only after the update is complete.

Delete email domain

Remove email domains that are no longer in use.

  1. Click the Settings tab in the top bar of your portal.
  2. Click Branding.
  3. Click Domain Authentication.
  4. Click the Delete button to the right of the domain you want to delete. The Delete email domain dialog box will display.
  5. Click the Delete domain button.
