Configure AI Features for Your Portal | Zoho Backstage

AI Console

Overview

Zoho Backstage provides AI-powered features that can help organizers create content, moderate gallery images, assist attendees, find event photos, and connect attendees with relevant people.

The AI Console in Portal Settings provides a central place to control the availability of these AI features across your portal. You can enable or disable AI for the portal and configure which individual AI features are available by default for events.

The configurations you make here become the default settings for new events created in the portal. Changes made in the AI Console do not affect existing events. Event organizers can customize or override these settings for individual events when required.

How the AI Console works

The AI Console provides two levels of control at the portal level:

AI Console
Acts as the master control for AI-powered features in the portal. AI must first be enabled here before individual AI features can be configured and used.

Configure AI Features
Lets you enable or disable individual AI features for events in the portal.  These configurations become the default settings for new events and can be overridden at the event level.

For example, if Content Assistant is enabled in the AI Console, it will be enabled by default for new events created afterward. An event organizer can still disable Content Assistant for a specific event from that event’s AI configuration.

Similarly, disabling an individual feature makes it disabled by default for new events created afterward. Existing events are not affected.

Notes
The portal-level configuration determines the default AI feature settings for new events. Changes made in the AI Console do not affect existing events. Changes made to AI feature settings at the event level apply only to that event and do not modify the portal-level configuration.

Enabling AI for Your Portal

AI must be enabled for the portal before you can configure the default state of individual AI features for new events. To enable AI features:

  1. Navigate to Portal Settings > AI Console.
  2. Click Enable in the AI Console section.

Once enabled, you can configure the individual AI features available for events in your portal.

Configuring Individual AI Features

The Configure AI Features section lists the AI-powered features available in your portal. Depending on the features available in Backstage, this can include:

AI Feature
What it does
NSFW Content Block
Automatically detects and blocks inappropriate content in gallery images.
Content Assistant
Helps generate and refine event-related content.
Event Chatbot
Provides an automated assistant that answers attendee queries and provides event information.
Face Recognition Search
Helps participants find and download their event photos using a selfie.
AI Matchmaking
Helps connect attendees based on shared interests, goals, and professional backgrounds.
  1. To configure a feature, use the toggle next to it.
  2. Enabling a feature makes it enabled by default for new events created afterward. Disabling a feature makes it disabled by default for new events created afterward. Existing events are not affected by these changes.
  3. Event organizers can subsequently change these settings for individual events.

Portal-Level and Event-Level Configurations

The portal-level AI Console establishes the default AI configuration for new events, while event-level configuration lets organizers control AI features for individual events. Changes to the portal-level configuration do not affect existing events.

For example, suppose Event Chatbot is enabled in the AI Console. Events created after this configuration will have Event Chatbot enabled by default. An organizer can disable it for a specific event without affecting other events or changing the portal-level configuration.

This lets portal administrators establish a common AI configuration while still giving individual events the flexibility to use the AI features appropriate for them.

Disabling AI for Your Portal

You can disable AI when you no longer want AI-powered features to be available across the portal. Disabling AI features in the AI Console prevents AI features from being enabled by default for new events. Existing events and their AI feature configurations are not affected.

  1. Navigate to Portal Settings > AI Console.
  2. Click Disable.
  3. Review the changes that will take effect.
  4. Enter the portal name when prompted for confirmation.
  5. Click Disable AI.
