Managing Email

One of the major modes of communication in any business is via email. When such is the case, imagine how easy it would be to view all the email conversations related to a contact or account right from Bigin?

IMAP Configuration

IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) is a standard email protocol, that stores the messages on the server, but allows you to send and manage your messages right from Bigin. The main advantage is that, you can sync your emails across various devices.

Configuring IMAP account

  1. Go to Setup > Email.
    Choose one from the popular email services.

  2. Enter UsernameEmail Address, Password and click Continue.

  3. Click Server Details to view the Incoming and Outgoing server details.
    This is automatically filled up for you. If you are configuring IMAP for 'Other mail' you must enter the server details manually.
  4. Choose Email Sharing Permissions.
    You can choose from:
    Private - Conversation with your customers will be visible only to you.
    Public - Anyone can view the conversation.

  5. Click Save.

POP3 Configuration

You can configure Zoho Mail or third party email client via POP3 configuration in your Bigin. It is a two-step process:
  1. Configure Zoho Mail account.
  2. Configure POP3.
It is mandatory to have a Zoho Mail Account for POP3 configuration even if you want to configure a third party email client as Bigin uses Zoho Mail to get the emails.

Step 1: Configuring Zoho Mail Account

If you already have a Zoho Mail account, your existing mailbox will be displayed under the POP3 settings.
If you do not already have a Zoho Mail account, you will be prompted to register with your mobile number and create a Zoho Mail account by following onscreen instructions.

Upon successful configuration, this new mailbox will be added under the POP3 settings. Once you have a Zoho Mail account, you can add multiple mailboxes (whether Zoho Mail or other services) under POP3 accounts. Note that, only one mailbox can be active at a given point of time.

Step 2: Configuring POP3

  1. Go to Settings > Channels > Email.
  2. Click on the desired email client.
  3. Click the Don't Prefer IMAP? Connect to POP3 Account option.
  4. In the POP Configuration page, enter the following details:
    1. Name: Enter a name for the mailbox.
    2. Email address: Enter the email address you wish to configure.
    3. Password: Enter the password of the email address configured.
      If you have enabled two-factor authentication for the account, you must enter the app specific password and not the regular password.
    4. Choose Email Sharing Permissions.
      You can choose from: 
      Private  - Conversation with your customers will be visible only to you.
      Public - Anyone can view the conversation.
  5. Click Save.
