Which Bigin editions support WhatsApp integration?
As of now, WhatsApp integration is available in Express, Premier, and Bigin 360 editions.
Can I use the same WhatsApp number in both Bigin and my mobile phone?
No. WhatsApp only allows the number to be used in one place at a time, either Bigin or your mobile device. To use it in Bigin, you must delete the WhatsApp account from your phone. You should inform the Bigin support team so we can make a connection from the backend.
How are WhatsApp conversations initiated in Bigin?
There are two types:
- Customer-initiated: The customer messages first. Businesses can reply within 24 hours at no cost.
- Business-initiated: The business sends a message first using a pre-approved template.
What are business-initiated conversations in Bigin?
These occur when a business sends the first message using a WhatsApp-approved template. Once the customer replies, the business can send any type of message (text, image, video, etc.) for the next 24 hours at no extra cost.
Business-initiated messages are of two types:
- Marketing: For promotions, offers, and announcements
- Utility: For transactional updates like order confirmations and payment alerts

What are the limitations of WhatsApp message templates in Bigin?
- Max 900 characters per template
- Max 200 templates (approved, pending, rejected)
- Max 10 merge fields per template
How do WhatsApp message credits and charges work in Bigin?
Customer-initiated conversations are free and open a 24-hour window when the business replies. Business-initiated conversations (via templates) are charged based on type: $2 per marketing or utility conversation. Charges are per conversation, not per message. You can buy credits manually or enable auto-recharge when your balance is low. Each Bigin account also gets 1,000 free customer-initiated interactions per month via the WhatsApp Business Platform.
