Understanding event types

An event type represents the meeting, service, or appointment that customers can book with you, such as consultations, classes, demos, or any appointments. You can create event types to define how appointments should be booked, including factors like duration, availability, pricing, and booking rules.
1. How event types work
Event types determine how customers book appointments with your business. When a customer opens an event type booking page, it displays the available time slots based on the scheduling rules configured for that event type. Customers can then select a suitable slot, provide the required information and confirm the booking. Once the appointment is booked, notifications and other booking actions are handled according to the event type settings.
For example, a consulting firm can create a Business Consultation event type with a 30-minute duration and assign consultants. Customers visiting the booking page can view the available slots and book an appointment based on the configured availability.

1.1 Types of event types
- One Time

1.2 One-on-One
A One-on-One event type is suitable for appointments with one host and one participant. It could be a sales call, client meeting, doctor consultation or any appointment that involves a 1:1 meeting.
1.3 Group Booking
A group booking is suitable for meetings that have one host and multiple participants. It could be a webinar, group session, online training, or any one-to-many meetings.

- One Time: Appointment happens only once.
- Recurring: Appointment repeats for multiple days at a defined frequency. (weekly, monthly, or more)
1.4 Collective Booking
A collective event type is suitable for meetings that have multiple hosts and a single participant. It could be a panel interview, product demo, client onboarding, or any many-to-one appointments.
1.5 Resource Booking
A resource booking is an event type that is suitable for booking any physical asset. It could be a conference room booking, equipment reservation, vehicle renting or similar. The resource can be priced by time, and customers pay based on the amount of time for which they book the resource.
Under Custom Labels, you can rename Event Types to any term that aligns with your scheduling needs (for example, Services, Sessions, or Meetings). This customized label will appear across all relevant sections in your Bookings account for a consistent experience.Related links
