10DLC Registration Process – Best Practices

Best practices – 10DLC registration process

In this document, we’ll go over some simple tips and best practices to follow during the 10DLC registration process, especially while registering your brand and campaign. Make sure to read each point carefully to avoid issues and have a smooth experience. Before you submit, take a moment to check that all your details are correct.

Registration of brand

  • Your brand should have both a legal company name (e.g., Zylker Pvt Ltd) and a brand name (e.g., Zylker). You must fill in both fields, even if they are the same.

  • Choose the Vertical field based on the industry that best fits your business.

  • Enter your Business Registration Number and Type (EIN for US-based companies or another identifier for non-US companies). Make sure your EIN is valid and matches the one in your Internal Revenue Service (IRS) certificate, as this is required for verification.

  • The website URL you provide should be valid and must lead to your brand’s official website.

  • Select the correct country that issued your EIN and the country where your brand is registered.

Registration of 10DLC campaign template

Brand

  • Make sure your brand name matches the name used in the signup form.

  • Try to include your brand name or website domain in the shortened links you use in messages and use cases.

  • Clearly show your brand in the signup forms and keep the design clean and professional.

Signup Form

  • Make sure the signup form link is correct and works properly.

  • The signup form must include your brand logo.

  • The phone number field should be required and properly validated during signup.

  • The URL you provide during registration must have a signup form.

  • Collect user consent by adding a separate checkbox. For example: “Yes, I would like to receive promotional or marketing messages from Zylker. I agree to the Terms and Privacy Policy.”

  • It is mandatory to include a link to your Privacy Policy in the signup form.

Campaign Content

  • Keep your sample messages similar to the actual messages you plan to send. If your messages include links or phone numbers, make sure they are included in the template too.

  • Check that all links in your use cases and templates are working properly.

  • Make sure the sample message and use case match. For example, if your template is for a marketing message, the use case should also be marketing.

  • Do not include any controversial or restricted content in your templates or sample messages, as this can lead to rejection.

  • Choose the use case that best fits your campaign. Sending messages that don’t match your registered use case can lead to fines or limits.

  • Include an opt-out option in at least one sample message, as this is required during the review process.

Contacts

  • Keep a record of where your contacts come from.
    (i) Make sure all your contact sources are valid and trustworthy.

(ii) You should be able to clearly explain how you collected your audience data.

(iii) The process of how customers subscribe to your messages is called “Message Flow.” If you ask customers to opt in through a link in your SMS, clearly mention that they are signing up to receive your messages. Also, make sure the Message Flow description is between 40 and 2048 characters.

  • The opt-in data must be collected directly by your brand. Sharing or selling this data to third parties is not allowed under 10DLC. For example, if your brand is “Zylker,” your signup form should not collect leads on behalf of another company like “ABC.”

Privacy

The link to your Terms and Privacy Policy should be only for your brand, and it must be added as a clickable link in the signup form and also included in the footer of your website.

The Privacy Policy must include a clause stating that, "The privacy policy CANNOT permit for the sharing or selling of end user information to third parties and affiliates."
