Generating SMS content with Zia AI

An SMS gives you 160 characters to make a point and get someone to act on it. That's a tight brief to write to over and over. Zia AI in Zoho Campaigns drafts SMS content based on what you tell it about the campaign, so you're editing a draft instead of starting from nothing.

What is Zia AI content generation  

Zia is the AI assistant built into Zoho Campaigns. Instead of writing an SMS from scratch, you describe what you want to say and Zia drafts it. It works the same way across Email, and WhatsApp, using whatever campaign context you've provided to keep the draft tied to your actual offer and audience.
To use Zia, an admin needs to enable an AI model for your organization first. See setting up Zia AI in Zoho Campaigns. Once a model is active, the Zia AI icon appears on the SMS compose screen.

Setting the campaign context  

Campaign context is the background Zia reads before it writes: your offer, your audience, a deadline, a promo code. It won't carry over to a different campaign.

  1. In any AI content generation pop-up, click + Campaign Context in the top-right corner.

  2. In the Campaign Context dialog, describe the campaign in a few sentences.

  3. Click Save.

Once saved, that button becomes View Context on every generation surface for the campaign. Click it to review, edit, or delete the context whenever you need to. Generations after an edit use the updated context; anything Zia already wrote stays as it is.

Generating SMS content  

  1. In the SMS campaign builder, click the Zia AI icon on the formatting bar at the bottom of the Compose Message text box.

  2. In the Generate with Zia pop-up, add campaign context if it isn't set yet, then describe what the message should say.

  3. Click Generate.

Zia returns a suggestion, along with a few ways to adjust it before you commit:

  • Tone. Switch the tone of the draft.

  • Length. Shorten or lengthen it, within the 160-character SMS limit.

  • Simplify. Bring the reading level down.

  • Edit Prompt. Change your instructions and regenerate.

  • The regenerate icon gets you a new draft using the same prompt.

Click Insert to drop the result into the compose box.

Note: Check the character count shown below the compose box after inserting.

Reworking SMS content you wrote manually  

If you typed the message yourself and want Zia to improve it, click the Zia AI icon on the formatting bar. This opens a dropdown of rework options instead of a blank prompt:

  1. Rephrase. Rewrites the content without changing what it says.

  2. Change Tone. Switches to Conversational, Formal, Urgent, or Exclusive.

  3. Length. Shortens or lengthens the content within the 160-character limit.

  4. Simplify. Lowers the reading grade.

  5. Fix Grammar. Corrects grammar and punctuation.

  6. Translate to. Translates the content into another language.

  7. Rewrite. Regenerates the entire message with AI.

You can also select part of the existing message and rework only that section, rather than regenerating the whole thing.
