What is the difference between a workflow and an autoresponder?
Autoresponder
An autoresponder allows you to send out a series of emails and SMS messages automatically based on a single condition. You can also send followup messages in the same autoresponder. There are seven types of autoresponders listed below. You create an autoresponder to send emails
- Signup - to contacts who've signed up,
- Date-field - based a specific date,
- Closed group - for a particular group of contacts,
- Calendar - based on an event in the calendar ,
- Email-action - based on responsive actions on emails sent to contacts,
- Smart series - to contacts who've signed up to a list just before the message is scheduled to go out,
- Cyclic - at period intervals
Workflow
Workflow is a tool that automates an entire business process to arrive at necessary solutions. In a workflow you can perform various actions on
contacts based on multiple criteria. A workflow needs to triggered by a condition to be initiated after which you can setup a process through
which contacts will journey while having actions being performed on them to arrive at viable business solutions. There are six type of workflow
templates that you can use to create an automation process. You can create a workflow :
- Welcome & On-boarding - to welcome or on-board new contacts with a series of emails and sort them into different lists,
- Nurture Series - to nurture current contacts with a series of promotional emails,
- Re-engagement - to re-engage with inactive contacts,
- Customer Retention - to retain loyal contacts,
- Ecommerce - to remind contacts about product they've abandoned in their carts or to send followup emails after they've made a purchase
- Conditional Workflows - to send emails based on contact activity, time or date.
