What is Mail default value and Social default value?
Let us look into an example to understand in a better way,
$[FNAME|Customer]$
If your contact’s first name is mapped to the contact field, your contact’s will be addressed with their first name. If not, they will be addressed as Customer in your email campaign.
The default values for predefined merge tags is defined by default. But this tag is editable. Which means, if you want to address your contacts as Contact as their first name, all you need to do is replace Customer with Contact in the tag as given - $[FNAME|Contact]$
Mail default value - In the absence of a custom field item, whatever you give as a mail default value will occupy that place. In the above case, Customer is the mail default value.
Note: Social default values cannot be added for fields as it has been deprecated. However if you have already added a social default value for your merge tag previously, you can continue to use it.
