Autoresponders

To attach links for previous messages to new contacts:
  1. In the template editor, click on the Archive link component.
  2. Select and drag either Ordered list or Unordered list into the editor. A popup will appear.
  3. Remove the messages that you don’t want to include and edit the message subjects if needed. Click Next.
  4. Reorder the messages as needed. Click Okay.
The campaign will be sent with links to previous messages to your contacts who haven’t received those messages. Existing contacts will have these links automatically removed.

Can you make follow-ups the first message of the smart series?

Yes. Navigate to the follow-up you want to make the first message of the series and click Set this as your first message. This will swap your first message with the follow-up. Note: Swapping can be done only before you start the autoresponder.

How frequently can a cyclic autoresponder be sent?

Cyclic autoresponders can be sent on a daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly basis.

Can you create more than one cyclic autoresponder series with the same frequency?

Yes. Any number of series can be created for the same frequency.

What causes an autoresponder to stop?

Autoresponders will be stopped for the following reasons:
  1. When the source mailing list or segment has been deleted.
  2. When the date field associated with a date-field autoresponder has been deleted.

Will end-of-series actions be performed on contacts who have exited the autoresponder series?

No. Contacts who don’t match your filter criteria will stop receiving the series and end-of-series actions will not be performed. The end-of-series actions will only be performed when the last message of a series is sent to the subscriber.

What is the difference between date-field autoresponders and calendar autoresponders?

Date field autoresponders are sent based on the date in the date field. This date won't be the same for all contacts.
Calendar-based autoresponders are sent based on the date and time you schedule.

What is the maximum number of messages per autoresponder?

You can create and send a maximum of 60 messages per autoresponder.

Can you send chain campaigns to recipients who have opened and clicked your autoresponder messages?

Yes. To send a chain campaign to these contacts:
  1. From the autoresponder timeline, navigate to the Reports section.
  2. Click Create Campaign.
  3. Select Opened or Unopened from the dropdown menu.
  4. Select All messages or Any message from the dropdown menu.
  5. Click Create.
You can now create the message, configure the content, and schedule the campaign.

What will happen to your autoresponders if you downgrade your subscription?

If the subscription is downgraded, your autoresponders will be suspended and you’ll receive a notification email. When you renew your subscription, the autoresponders can be restarted.

What is “list freezing” in a closed group autoresponder?

The autoresponder will only be sent to contacts that have been added to a list before the scheduled activation date. “List freezing” means no contacts can be added to the autoresponder after activation.

Can you associate an autoresponder with more than one list?

No. If you want to send the same series of messages to contacts of another list, you can clone the autoresponder, then change the mailing list as you like.

Can you change the message schedule after activating a closed group autoresponder?

Any message can be cancelled and rescheduled.

What is the minimum delay between two messages in closed group and smart series autoresponders?

The minimum delay between two messages is one day.

When does a calendar-based autoresponder trigger?

Messages in a calendar-based autoresponder will be sent at the scheduled date and time.

How and when will an email-action autoresponder trigger?

Email-action autoresponder messages will be sent to contacts who have performed the specified action on the source campaign according to the message schedule.

Can you create a single email-action autoresponder for more than one campaign?

You cannot create an autoresponder for more than one campaign. If you want to create the same series of messages for another campaign, you can clone the autoresponder and change the source campaign as you like.

Can you create more than one autoresponder for a single campaign?

You can only create only one autoresponder per campaign.

Can you set up end-of-series actions for an email-action autoresponder?

You cannot configure end-of-series actions for this type of autoresponder. Because the email-action autoresponder is based on recipient activity, the end of the series cannot be determined.

What will happen if the source campaign is deleted?

Deleting the source campaign will not affect the autoresponder. The messages will still be sent to the recipients who have performed the specified actions.

When does a signup-based autoresponder trigger?

When a contact joins the mailing list associated with an autoresponder, the autoresponder will trigger according to the schedule you’ve set.

How do you edit contact sources in a signup-based autoresponder?

To change the contact source:
  1. Navigate to the Details section of the autoresponder.
  2. Click the Edit icon in the top-left corner.
  3. Check/uncheck the Include contacts added via Import and CRM sync option to change the source.

Is it possible to edit an autoresponder message after the autoresponder has started?

You cannot edit an autoresponder message once it’s started.  However, you can create another version of the message.
To create another message version:
  1. Navigate to the message you want to create another version of.
  2. Click Create another version. You'll be redirected to the Message Creation page.
  3. Create your new message.
  4. Click Send for Review to send it to our spam compliance team.

When will a date-field autoresponder trigger?

The messages in a date-field series will be triggered based on the date in the custom date-field associated with the autoresponder.

Can you change the custom date field associated with a date-field autoresponder after creating the autoresponder?

Once you've created a date-field autoresponder, you cannot change the date field. If you want to send the autoresponder according to a different date field, you can clone the autoresponder and change the parameters as you like.

Can you create an autoresponder for more than one date field?

Only one date field can be associated with an autoresponder at a time. If you want to associate the same series with another date field, you can clone the autoresponder and change the parameters as you like.
