Manage email open tracking in Zoho Campaigns 3.0

Managing Email Open Tracking in Zoho Campaigns 2.0

What is email open tracking

Email open tracking embeds a tiny, invisible image (1×1 pixel) into your email. When a recipient opens the message, that image loads from Zoho's servers. This tells you the email was opened, at what time, and from what device type. Zoho Campaigns 2.0 currently supports disabling or enabling open tracking organization-wide and for individual campaigns.

Organization-wide open tracking

If you decide not to manage consent and instead disable tracking for all campaigns, you can use this method.
  1. From the Zoho Campaigns dashboard, click the gear icon in the top-right corner. Select Settings.

  2. Under Campaign Policy, click Campaign Tracking.

  3. Under Email Opens: Complete Tracking, click on Change

  4. In the dialog that appears, click the radio button next to Do not track.

  5. Click the Apply button to confirm.

Enable or Disable tracking for individual campaigns

If you want to send campaigns only to consented contacts with tracking on, you can enable tracking selectively per campaign. For non-consented contacts, disable tracking.
  1. From the Campaigns dashboard, either create a new campaign or open an existing draft.

  2. In the campaign creation page, scroll down past the content section. Click Show advanced options.

  3. In the tracking section, click on Change next to Email Opens.

  4. Choose one of the following options:

  • For campaigns sent to consented segments, select Complete Tracking and click Apply.

  • For campaigns sent to non-consented or general segments, select Do not track and click Apply.

What happens when you disable open tracking

Once you disable tracking at the organization level or per campaign:
  • No new emails will include a tracking pixel

  • Campaign reports will no longer show open rates for those campaigns.

  • Response actions triggered on "email opened" events will stop functioning.

  • Lists and segments based on opens will no longer work

  • Contact scoring rules based on opens will stop counting new opens

Existing tracking data and historical reports remain in your system, but new data won't be collected.
