Employee satisfaction is one of the most discussed topics among employers, and one of the main reasons for employee dissatisfaction is not being recognized for their efforts. However, a simple act of awarding badges can have a huge impact on increasing the visibility of a person's work and enabling them to gain more recognition across the company.
What are badges and how do they work?
Badges in Zoho Connect are used to recognize employees for their roles, skills, and achievements. Once created, the badges can be awarded to relevant people for their unique accomplishments and help reinforce a positive work culture. The badges awarded are visible in the user's profile, thus being a testament to their efforts and achievements.
Types of badges
Custom badges: Create unique badges with your custom images and titles to suit your organization's needs. Assign points a user gains for receiving the badge and restrict the number of badges a user can send or receive in a specific time frame.
System awarded badges: Work anniversary, milestone, and birthday badges are automatically awarded by the system based on the specific criteria set by the admin.
Who can create badges?
Only network admins and members in a custom role with the required permissions can create a badge.
How do I create a custom badge?
- Click the gear icon [
] in the right menu. - Select Settings from the dropdown.

- In the Settings page, select Badges under Gamification.

- In the Badges page, Click +Create Badge.
- In the pop-up, select the type of badge type as Custom.
- Provide a name, add a description, and upload an image for the badge.
- Select the privileges and the points a user earns for receiving and awarding the badge.
- Click Create.
How do I create a work anniversary badge?
Recognize employees for their association with your organization using a Work anniversary badge. Work anniversary badges are automatically awarded to users who have completed the specified number of years in the organization.
To create one:
- Click the gear icon [
] in the right menu. - Select Settings from the dropdown.

- In the Settings page, select Badges under Gamification.

- In the Badges page, Click +Create Badge.
- In the pop-out, select the type of badge type as Work Anniversary.
- Provide a name, add a description, and upload an image for the badge.
- Select the number of working years for which the badge should be awarded and the points the user earns.
- Click Create.
How do I create a birthday badge?
Birthday badges are awarded to members on their birthdays.
To create one:
- Click the gear icon [
] in the right menu. - Select Settings from the dropdown.

- In the Settings page, select Badges under Gamification.

- In the Badges page, Click +Create Badge.
- In the pop-out, select the type of badge type as Birthday.
- Provide a name, add a description, and upload an image for the badge.
- Click Create.
How do I delete a badge?
- Click the gear icon [
] in the right menu. - Select Settings from the dropdown.

- In the Settings page, select Badges under Gamification.

- From the list of badges, scroll down to the required badge and click the ellipsis [...] at the right-end of the badge name.
- Select Delete from the dropdown.
