2. Availability
- Zia is available only for paid plans of Creator.
- Only the super admin and admins can configure Zia and enable the Create App feature. Along with them, developers can also create and manage AI-assisted applications. Meanwhile, other users can access them in live mode, based on their assigned permissions.
- Zia can be configured using OpenAI and Zoho LLM in US, IN, EU, AU, and CA data centers, while it is supported only using OpenAI in UAE, JP, and SA DCs.
3. What is App Builder?
Zoho Creator introduces Zia App Builder for mobile platforms, a game-changing tool that blends the versatility of our low-code platform with the intelligence of GenAI. While Zia App Builder offers more sophisticated features for creating applications on the web platform, it provides the opportunity to build more on-the-go apps using the mobile platforms. This is achieved by giving you a head start to creating simple apps in minutes, with little to no effort. You can just give a prompt describing your app and watch it come to life with working components such as
forms,
dashboards, and more.
Available on Creator's phone and tablet devices, it enables you to create and manage applications from anywhere, making app development flexible than ever. A few scenarios where Zia App Builder can come to one's rescue could be:
- Procurement Tracking: Build an app on the go for the manufacturing sector, focusing on supply chain modules and inventory tracking.
- Customer Orders: Instantly develop an app for processing customer orders and tracking sales during an exhibition.
- Surveys: Set up a custom survey or questionnaire app during a meeting or workshop.
All apps created on a mobile platform will be available in your Creator account across all three platforms, web, phone, and tablet. Once the app is created, you can start using it immediately or switch to the web platform to customize the app further and add enhanced features using the edit
mode.
3.1. How does it work?
STEP 1: Give Zia App Builder a gist of what your application needs to be about
Zia App Builder offers a multimodal system to collect a description of your application through two means during the creation process:
- Text input - The required application's objectives or a list of the problems it will be solving for you.

Tip: The prompt can be as simple as an application name, such as "Vendor Management", or a detailed set of points addressing all requirements. We recommend following the latter approach to nudge Zia App Builder into creating a more customized application for you.
- Image input (available only when Zia is configured using OpenAI) - An image that is a PRD or a process diagram that pinpoints the flow or structure of your application can be uploaded. Zia App Builder will extract all the information from this file and give you personalized use cases based on them.
- Voice input - The required application can be described orally. Zia App Builder will use the speech-to-text method to display the conveyed content on screen, allowing further edits if needed.

Tip:
- We recommend including either a text or voice input, along with an image in your prompt to enhance the chances of getting custom use cases that your application can include. Check out this section to try a few sample text and file input prompts.
- The speech-to-text method also makes Zia App Builder accessible for users with visual impairments, enabling them to interact with the platform seamlessly.
Security Tip: For your privacy and security, it's best to avoid sharing sensitive personal information, such as passwords or financial details, when interacting with AI platforms.
STEP 2: Review AI-generated use cases tailored according to your inputs
The AI assistant will generate practical use cases based on your inputs, which will provide solutions to handle all the tasks in your application. To generate an application that suits your requirement, you will have the opportunity to manage these use cases. You can verify if any use cases do not align with your application's objectives and remove them, or generate additional ones and add your own through text.
Zia App Builder will utilize the following Creator components and features to solve the use case requirements and create your application.
- Forms - Collects and stores data in Creator
- Reports - Displays collected data in customizable views
- Pages - Present key metrics based on the data in a visually appealing and organized manner
- Application Layout - Personalizes your application by customizing the buttons, menus, and the overall theme of your application
3.2. Prerequisites
To use Zia App Builder, you compulsorily need to head to the Zoho Creator web platform and
configure Zia in the
Operations module. Zia is an AI-powered assistant that accelerates your low-code journey by aiding you along an application's creation process. Once Zia is configured, by default, the
Create App feature will be enabled.

Note: If you've previously disabled the Create App feature, ensure to enable the Access toggle before proceeding.

Let’s say a healthcare firm has set up vaccination camps at various remote locations and needs to quickly create an app to register participants and track vaccinations. With Zia App Builder on your phone or tablet, you can instantly generate the app from a simple prompt, such as "Create an app to register participants and manage appointments for a healthcare vaccination camp at remote locations."
Zia App Builder will generate relevant use cases and curate a simple custom app that can capture participant details, vaccination status, and appointment schedules in real time. This ensures that the vaccination process runs smoothly, even in remote areas, without any delays.
4. Steps to create an application using Zia App Builder
1. Navigate to the dashboard of your Creator account on your phone or tablet device.
2. Click the Create using Zia bar below the search bar to end up in the Zia App Builder landing page.

Note: This feature will be available only if you've
configured Zia and enabled the
Create App feature from the web device of you Zoho Creator account.
3. Click the input box at the bottom of the screen to specify your input or choose one of the application suggestions that Zia displays on the screen if required. If you've tapped on a suggestion, it will be pasted in the next screen, which can be elaborated further.
4. Specify the application requirements through the below means and click Generate to receive AI-generated use cases that would solve your business problem.
- Text - Describe the application you want to create in detail for optimal results.
- Image - Click the Upload icon (
) and attach an image that outlines the application objectives such as typed PRDs. or pictorially represents the application flow such as any relevant process diagrams. - Voice - Tap the Mic icon (
) and provide a spoken description of the application.

Note:
- The text and voice input's content can contain a maximum of 1000 characters.
- The image input can include up to 1 image.
- The supported image formats are PNG, JPG, JPEG, and WEBP.
- It is recommended for your prompt to have both, an image and, a text or voice input, that covers more specifications to help Zia generate more tailored use cases for you.
5. Review the AI-generated use cases that App Builder has suggested to be included in the output.
You can:
- Press the Generate icon (
) to add a new AI-generated use case relevant to your application. - Press the Add icon (
) to type a use case that you have in mind. - To remove a use case that does not align with the application's needs:
- Long press a use case in an iOS device and tap Delete
- Slide from right to left on a use case in an Android device and tap Delete

Note: By default, three use cases will be generated. You can generate or add up to five use cases in total.
6. Tap Create App to initiate the creation process based on the use cases.

Note: The number of forms, reports, and dashboards that are created varies according to the use cases.
7. Tap Access App once the creation process is complete to head over to the live mode of the application. You will land on the dashboard of your app.
5. Points to note
- Zia App Builder includes sample data in your app during creation to test the various components Creator offers. Remember to delete it manually before using the application for your requirements.
- While AI enhances the application creation process, it’s crucial to verify the accuracy and relevance of AI-generated use cases. This ensures proper functionality and alignment with user needs.
