In a nutshell
Gauges are intuitive dials or meters that dynamically represent Creator
form data as metrics, performance levels, and key performance indicators (KPIs) on
pages. They enable users to assess progress, thresholds, and status against targets instantly.
Availability
- Gauges can be created in all plans of Creator.
- Only the super admin, admins, and developers can create and manage gauges.
1. Overview
Gauges in Zoho Creator transform a form's record data into clear, visual indicators by displaying values on a speedometer-like dial or linear format. This is ideal for monitoring performance metrics and thresholds, as they provide instant insight into how close you are to goals or limits. They can represent key operational metrics like server load, inventory levels, or daily footfall, offering quick visual cues when values approach critical limits. You can customize them by using color-coded zones and scalable ranges to highlight critical status changes, promoting real-time tracking.
Creator offers five different layouts, including the circular semi-donut, range, donut; and the linear gauge that cater to different use cases and scenarios.
You can configure the following properties for a gauge:
- Display - The values based on which the target, total, and the dynamic indicator are displayed on the gauge.
- Style - The visual properties such as font, color, styling, and so on, for the gauge.
1.1. Use cases
In a retail chain management application built on Zoho Creator, a regional operations head and their team uses gauges to monitor daily footfall-to-sales data and how they perform against their target. This is being observed across three store locations in their state, Dallas, Austin, and Texas City. Each gauge reflects real-time data pulled from forms that track the sales for each store. The gauges' configuration includes:
- Maximum value - The top-end value of footfall-to-sales for a day is 4,000 orders
- Target - The goal to be achieved is 2,500 orders a day
- Display value - The dynamic value that shows the footfall-to-sales numbers
- Color-coded sections to visually follow each store's progress
By setting a target of 2,500 orders, the team can instantly identify stores performing below expectations and high performance locations using the target indicators.
1.2. Navigation guide for gauges
After you've
created a page from the edit
mode of your application, you can find the gauge element on the left pane of the page builder. When
Gauge is clicked, different layouts of a gauge are displayed alongside from which you can drag and drop the desired one onto the building space. Learn more on how to

1.3. Display
By customizing a gauge's display properties, you can display dynamic threshold and progress metrics.
This can be done by configuring the:
- Display value - Dynamic needle or pointer value of a gauge
- Maximum value - Total or end value that is displayed in the gauge
- Target (not applicable for donut gauge and is optional for other types) - Target or goal value to be achieved
- Range (applicable only for range gauge) - The gauge can be divided into multiple equal or unequal sections to indicate different stages.

The display value of a gauge can be configured by using the data stored in the forms of any of the Creator applications, in the same account, to do operations such as:
- Sum - The sum value of all relevant entries made in a form field
Supported field types: Number, Percent, Decimal, Currency, Prediction, OCR, Integration - Minimum - The minimum value of all the relevant entries made in a form field
Supported field types: Number, Percent, Decimal, Currency, Time, Date-Time, Prediction, OCR, Integration, and system fields such as Added Time, Modified Time - Maximum - The maximum value of all the relevant entries made in a form field
Supported field types: Number, Percent, Decimal, Currency, Time, Date-Time, Prediction, OCR, Integration, and system fields such as Added Time, Modified Time - Median - The median value of all the relevant entries made in a form field.
Supported field types: Number, Percent, Decimal, Currency, Prediction, OCR, Integration - Average - The average value of all the relevant entries made in a form field.
Supported field types: Number, Percent, Decimal, Currency, Prediction, OCR, Integration - Count - The count of the relevant records entered using a form. This operation will not be performed based on a specific field since it only provides a count of records.
- Distinct Count - The count of the unique field values found in the records entered using a form. For example, say you've chosen a Department dropdown field while configuring a distinct count. A total of fifty records have Presales, Sales, Marketing, HR, and Finance (5 unique values) as the department names repeatedly. Then, the distinct count value displayed on the gauge will be Unsupported fields for distinct count: Multiselect, Checkbox, Subform or subform fields, Add Notes, Section, Lookup (only when the display format is chosen as Multiselect or Checkbox)
These operations can be configured based on all the records found in the form or only using specific records filtered out using
criteria.
1.4. Style
You can customize the following style properties for the gauge, its display value, the target, and the minimum/maximum values:
