This page covers everything about working with applications – from mastering low-code applications to efficiently editing, accessing summaries, duplicating, and deleting applications, all while ensuring a seamless environment for enhanced productivity.
How can I edit my application?
To edit the application:
- If the application is not within an environment, simply select the bottom-right corner of the application.
- However, if the application is in an environment, locate the Environment dropdown and click on it.
From the dropdown options, select Edit to access the editing features of the application.
How does the editing process differ for environment apps?
Whenever an application is edited, it defaults to the Development environment. However, the application can be accessed in live mode across all three environments: Development, Stage, and Production. Simply put, there's one editing mode (Development) and three live modes (Development, Stage, and Production). In live mode, data can be added to the application, with each mode storing data separately.
Among the three live modes, Production is where end users or consumers access the app. Consequently, testing occurs in Development and Staging environments before changes are published to Production. Initially, changes are published to the Staging environment for testing, followed by deployment to the Production environment.
Thus, applications are created in Development, tested in Staging, and made available to end users in Production mode.

How does editing an app affect users who are simultaneously accessing the app?
How to deploy changes made to an app?
Environments provide a platform for undertaking preliminary testing in a constrained environment and publishing changes all at once, rather than making progressive changes to the application. This is useful when changes need to be made to a complex application and you don't want users to be able to access it until all of the changes have been done—otherwise, people may access unfinished application updates.

What is the use environment?
Environments are particularly useful when you need to make significant changes to complex applications, test the changes in the app before deploying them live, and want to avoid users accessing unfinished changes. It helps you prevent the need for reverting application changes, making development and deployment more seamless.
What are the different modes available?
You can run through an application in two modes:
- Edit mode of the application:
You can create and modify the app's elements in this mode, including the forms, pages, reports, and workflows. The workstation where the design of your application is created can be thought of as the edit mode. - Live mode of the application:
You can see the results of the application in this mode. This mode enables you to view the application from the perspective of the user.
Are there any limitations on editing an application?
Depending on your editing
permissions, you will have access to editing an application. Otherwise, applications are completely customizable in Zoho Creator. You can also download an application from the gallery and customize it to your needs.
How can I quickly access a summary of my application, including its environments, portals, users, and mobile apps?
To access a summary of my application, including its environments, portals, users, and mobile apps:
- Click on the meatball menu in the top-right corner of your application.
- Select Summary.
Here, you can view the summary of your application and also access environments, users, portals, and mobile apps.
Is it possible to duplicate an application?
Yes. To duplicate an application:
- Locate the meatball menu, represented by three dots, found near the top-right corner of the application.
- Click on the meatball menu to open a list of options.
- From the menu options, select Duplicate to initiate the duplication process.
- A prompt will appear asking you to provide a name for the copied application.
- Enter the desired name for the duplicate application.
- Finally, select Duplicate to create a copy of the application with the specified name.
What happens to data in my application when I duplicate an application? Is it also shared along with the application?
When you duplicate an application, the forms and reports are duplicated as well, but the data stored in reports won't be duplicated. Your privacy is our prime concern, therefore users' data isn't shared while duplicating an application.

If I delete an application, does it also delete its associated data? How can I preserve the data before deleting?
When you delete an application, it indeed removes all its data, as well as the associated app settings and configuration. This is where
Creator's Backup feature is helpful before deleting your application:
- Go to the Operations section or menu within the application.
- Click the Backup option.
- The backup process will commence, and once completed, you will be able to download a copy of the application to your local computer.
This way, you can retain a backup of your application for future reference or in case you need to restore it later.
What is the purpose of generating an HAR (HTTP Archive) file in Zoho Creator?
When faced with complex issues in Zoho Creator, like difficulties with Single Sign-On (SSO) or performance-related problems, gathering relevant information becomes crucial for effective debugging. HAR file contains a record of a browsing session.
What browser is recommended for generating the HAR file?
The use of Google Chrome is necessary for generating a HAR file.
What is the primary purpose of encryption, and how does it provide data protection?
In order for only the intended recipient to be able to read a message, encryption is used to protect the message's contents. This is accomplished by substituting unrecognizable data that can only be understood by the intended recipient for the original contents. This is how encryption developed into a technique to safeguard data from potential thieves.
