Setting up the Canvas record form 

To begin utilizing Canvas Record Form,
  1. Navigate to the Canvas Builder via Setup > Customization > Canvas within your Zoho CRM account.
  2. Go to the "Form View" tab.

Designing your first custom form

Creating a custom record form with Canvas is both straightforward and flexible, catering to a wide range of design preferences and requirements.

1. Initiate form creation 

In the "Form View" tab, click on "Create Form Page" to start a new form or "Import canvas" to utilize a pre-existing canvas as your base.

2. Select the appropriate module

Determine which CRM module this form will apply to, such as Leads, Contacts, Deals, etc. and select the specific layout. 

3. Leverage drag-and-drop elements

Create a user-friendly layout by dragging and dropping elements like text fields, images, buttons, and checkboxes onto your form using the Canvas Builder's intuitive interface. Position each element precisely to match your business requirements in terms of design and context.

Key features of Canvas form view

  1. Field state editor: This tool is invaluable for creating dynamic forms where field visibility and appearance change based on user interaction. For instance, mandatory fields can be made to stand out, and validation errors can be visually highlighted to guide users through successful form completion.
  2. Layout customization: Beyond simple drag-and-drop, delve into the layout customization options to adjust field alignments, section divisions, and overall form structure. This level of customization ensures that the form not only captures all necessary information but does so in a manner that aligns with your business process.
  3. Tab focus direction: In Canvas Form View, you can determine the tab focus direction for every container. (A container is a section, Table or Tab container). This indicates that you can apply the tab focus direction to move from left to right or top to bottom. Likewise, you can use Shift+tab shortcut to navigate to the previous field. Either way, you can determine the tab focus direction for every container in your Canvas, or apply the direction to the whole page and let the nested components follow the parent component’s preference.

    Note. It is important to note here that if any of the containers has a tab focus direction (which isn't the parent direction), while navigating fields using the tab key, the focus will be moved to the next section only after all the fields in that container are navigated.
