The Commission Management extension for Zoho CRM automatically calculates commission amounts for salespeople whenever a deal is won. The commission amount is calculated based on the commission plan settings configured by the administrator.
Administrators can create commission plans, assign them to individual salespeople, and track commission details directly within Zoho CRM.

Setting up commission plans
After installation, you will be redirected to the Commission Management – Settings page, where you define the plan settings that drive commission calculations. The commission amount is calculated based on these plan settings.
You can create multiple commission plans to match different business needs.
Plan types
When creating a plan, choose one of the three Plan Types:
Plan Type | Commission is based on | When commission updates |
Product Units | Number of products sold | Once the linked sales order's delivery status changes to Delivered and the deal stage changes to Closed Won |
Deal Count | Number of deals won by the salesperson | Once the deal stage changes to Closed Won |
Deal Age | How long did the deal take to close | Once the deal has a closing date and its stage changes to Closed Won |
To create a commission plan:
- On the Commission Management - Settings page, click the New Commission button.
The Commission Plan Settings page will open.

- Enter a Plan Name.
- Select a Plan Type (see table above).
- The Commission Frequency is set to Monthly by default.
This value cannot be altered. - Enter the value for the selected plan type (for example, a number of units for Product Units, a deal count threshold for Deal Count, or an age threshold for Deal Age), along with its corresponding commission percentage (%).
- Under User Info, assign the plan to the relevant salesperson.
- Click Save as Draft (to finish later) or Confirm (to save the plan as-is).

Managing plan status
Every commission plan has one of three statuses:
- Draft – The plan is saved but not yet used for commission calculation.
- Active – The plan is live and used to calculate commission.
- Archived - The plan is no longer used for commission calculation, but remains stored for reference.
Saving a plan as a draft
Use Save as Draft while a plan is still being finalized. For example, while:
- Commission values are under review
- User assignments aren't finalized yet
- You want to verify the plan before it goes live
Draft plans appear under the Drafts category on the Settings page.
Activating a plan
Only activate a plan after you've reviewed its value and percentage settings, and its user assignment.
- Go to the Drafts category.
- Open the plan you want to activate.
- Review and, if needed, edit the plan details.
- Click Activate.
Once activated, the plan becomes available for commission calculation.
Archiving a plan
Once a plan is active, you can edit or archive it directly from that plan's Actions menu:
- Go to the Active Plans category.
- Click the Actions menu (⋮) next to the plan you want to change.
- Choose one of the following:
- Edit Plan – Update the plan's details while it stays Active.
- Archive Plan – Stop using the plan for commission calculation. The plan moves to Archived and is no longer applied to deals, but its records remain available for reference.
- Delete Plan – Permanently remove the plan.
Viewing and tracking plans
All commission plans are listed on the extension's Settings page, grouped into four categories:
- My Plans – Shows consolidated commission plan data across admin users, rather than data specific to the individually logged-in user.
- Active Plans – Shows plans that are currently live and used for commission calculation.
- Drafts – Shows plans that are saved but not yet activated, so administrators can continue editing, review pending plans, or prepare plans in advance.
- Archived – Shows plans that were previously active but have since been archived.
Each category lists its plans with the Plan Name, Assigned Members, Created By, and an Actions menu for editing, archiving, or deleting the plan.
Use these categories whenever you need to verify which plans are active, which are still drafts, and which users are assigned to which plans.
Commission is calculated automatically for every deal that's won, based on its assigned plan. You can check the results in two places: on the deal record itself, or in the Commission Info tab.
On the deal record:
- Open the relevant deal in the Deals module.
- Confirm the deal owner is correctly mapped to the intended salesperson.
- Confirm the deal stage has changed to Closed Won.
- Under Deal Information, check that the commission fields have been populated:
- For Deal Age plans, the commission amount updates automatically once the deal closes.
- For Product Units and Deal Count plans, the commission amount updates automatically once the conditions in the Plan Types table are met.
In the Commission Info tab:
This tab shows monthly commission information per deal owner, including the:
- Total commission earned
- Total number of deals closed
- Monthly commission breakdown
- Salesperson details
Note: If a deal is deleted, its commission amount and deal count remain in the Commission Info module as they were; deleting a deal does not remove or update its historical commission record. Commission figures are recalculated only when a deal is edited or when a new deal is created.
Reports and dashboards
Reports and dashboards help you review commission performance without digging through individual records. Reports present the data as lists; dashboards present it visually.
Standard reports
Use the built-in standard reports to review the:
- Commission earned by each salesperson
- Commission details by deal
- Monthly commission totals
- Active commission plans
- Draft commission plans
- User-specific plan assignments
These reports are especially useful for verifying commission figures before payout processing.
Creating a custom report
- Go to the Reports module.
- Click Create Report.
- Select the module to report on: Commission Info, Commission Settings, or Deals.
- Select the report type.
- Add the columns you need.
- Add filters, if required.
- Save the report.
Creating a custom dashboard
- Go to the Analytics tab.
- Click Create Dashboard.
- Enter a dashboard name and, optionally, a description.
- Choose a sharing option.
- Add dashboard components based on your commission reports.
- Save the dashboard.
Useful components to include:
- Total commission earned this month
- Commission by salesperson
- Commission by plan type
- Active plans by user
- Draft plans pending review
- Top commission earners
- Users without active plans
Note: Dashboard data respects each user's module permissions, field permissions, and record access. This means two users may see different data on the same dashboard.
