Optimize your Knowledge Base for Search Engines

SEO (Search Engine Optimization) plays an important role in increasing the visibility, relevance, and traffic of the knowledge base articles.
SEO helps browser find and rank the knowledge base articles. By optimizing the KB content and structure, there is a better likelihood of your articles getting displayed in the search results.

Adam is struggling to set up a dashboard in Zoho Desk tries to find the information by searching in Google. 

An article named 'Working with Dashboards', with all the required details, is present in the KB. If there aren't enough targeted keywords, SEO, and meta title added to the article, Adam will not get this KB article in his search result. 

But, if you add the required information for SEO in the article, for example, adding keyword as 'Dashboard Setup', Adam will find this article in his search, gets the required information he was looking for. This will save time for both customer support and Adam, and also help the business with better accessibility, visibility, user engagement, and customer satisfaction.

There are three aspects in the knowledge base module that help optimize search engines. They are 
  1. Content - The key to SEO is well-structured, relevant, and precise document as the search engines uses content that provides important information. By using the right words, formatting, and comprehensive content, the search engines can easily fetch the content. 
  2. Meta title and description - Meta title and Meta description provides a summary of the article. Using relevant keywords will improve the chance of the article showing up in search results. 
  3. Navigation - The navigation is nothing but the structure of the articles that guide users and search engines around the website. This navigation includes menus, links, and breadcrumbs that help users move from one page to another.

To optimize SEO

  1. Navigate to the Knowledge Base module and open the required article.
  2. Edit the article and scroll down to the SEO section. 
  3. Enter the title, meta keywords, meta description, tags, and click Publish
