Configure provisioning for PagerDuty with Zoho Directory

User provisioning with PagerDuty enables you to provision and deprovision users in PagerDuty from the Zoho Directory Admin Panel, enabling you to use Zoho Directory as a single source of truth. To get the most out of this integration, you can also set up single sign-on (SSO). SSO allows your organization's users to easily access PagerDuty without having to sign in to it separately.

Prerequisites

  1. In Zoho Directory
    1. Roles required to perform this action:
      1. Organization Owner
      2. Organization Admin
    2. Permissions required to perform this action:
      1. View apps
      2. Assign apps
      3. Import users
  2. In PagerDuty
    1. An account with admin access

Set up Provisioning

  1. Sign in to Zoho Directory, then click Admin Panel.
  2. Go to Applications, then click PagerDuty. If you haven't installed the application yet, do the following:
    1. Click Add Application.
    2. Search for PagerDuty, then click Add.
    3. Enter the Domain Name, then click Add. The subdomain before ".pagerduty.com" in your organization's PagerDuty URL is the domain name of your organization.
  3. Under Provisioning, click Configure.
  4. In the next page, click Authorize. A new tab opens requesting you to authenticate using your PagerDuty account.
  5. Enter the credentials of your PagerDuty admin account, then click Sign In.
  6. The app displays permissions requested by Zoho Directory for authentication. Click Submit Consent. Upon successful authentication, you can proceed to field mapping.
  7. You can map the Zoho Directory fields with the relevant fields in PagerDuty so that both can be in sync. To do so, select the required field in the Zoho Directory column, and select the corresponding field against it in the PagerDuty column.

    1. If you'd like to have a constant value set in PagerDuty for any field, hover over that field, click Edit, enter the value in the Hardcoded Value field, and click OK.

  8. Click Save and Next.
  9. Under Settings, select the user actions that must be reflected from Zoho Directory to PagerDuty:
    1. Create Users: Users assigned to PagerDuty in Zoho Directory will be added as new users in PagerDuty.
    2. Update User profile: For users who already have an account in PagerDuty, changes made to the mapped fields in the user profile in Zoho Directory will reflect in PagerDuty.
    3. Delete Users: Unassigning a user from PagerDuty in Zoho Directory will reflect in deleting the user from PagerDuty.
    4. Activate and deactivate Users: Activating users in Zoho Directory will activate them in PagerDuty, while deactivating users in Zoho Directory will delete them in PagerDuty. Additionally, users who have an account in PagerDuty will be activated when they are assigned to the app in Zoho Directory.
  10. Click Save.
  11. If you wish to import users from PagerDuty to Zoho Directory, click Import. It is advisable to import users during initial setup or when activating the app after a while. A list of user profiles that can be imported will be displayed based on the following filters:
    1. New Users: Users in PagerDuty who do not have an account in Zoho Directory. Users you select here will be added to Zoho Directory and PagerDuty will be assigned to them.
    2. Update User: Users in PagerDuty who are already present in Zoho Directory. Choose a source profile, and the field values of user profiles you select here will be overwritten with that of the source profile.
    3. Users to Activate: Users in PagerDuty who are present in Zoho Directory but are inactive. Users you select here will be activated and PagerDuty will be assigned to them.
    4. Users to Deactivate: Inactive users in PagerDuty who are present in Zoho Directory but are active. These users will still be active in Zoho Directory, but disabled for PagerDuty app.
  12. Click Confirm Assignment, then click Done.
