Zoho Directory's licensing is done on a pro-rata basis, which means you don't have to purchase licenses manually when adding users. Once you add a user, a license will be allocated to the user and the cost will be added to your monthly bill based on your subscription plan opted as the
standard or professional plan. The cost of a Zoho Directory license per user is $2 for the standard plan and $7 for the professional plan. The cost of the licenses added in the middle of a payment cycle will be prorated based on the day they were added.
For example, assume you've added 20 users in the trial period, and upgrade your subscription to standard plan on April 1st. So, for the month of April you will be paying $40 in the standard plan; if you upgrade to the professional plan, you will be paying $140.
If you add 4 users on April 16th, this is how the bill for May will be calculated: Prorated license cost = Regular license cost x (No. of days in a month after users are added/Number of days in a month)
Note: Zoho Directory licensing for device authentication is calculated based on device per license. For example, if you have added 20 license in the professional plan on April 1st, then you can add 20 devices in total. So, for the month of April, you will be paying $7 per license, and the total cost will be $140. When you add the 21st device, you will be charged $1 for the additional device, and the total cost will be $141.
License removal
When a user is deactivated, one license will be automatically removed from your account, and the user will not be billed from the next month.
Returning to our previous example, you start May with 23 users. On May 10th, you deactivate a user. The user's license will be removed, and the bill for June will be calculated as follows:
