What is GitLab?

GitLab provides a powerful platform to plan projects, create and manage code, and deploy easily. You can configure your infrastructure, monitor metrics, and comply with standard requirements using the built-in tools.

How to connect your GitLab account to Zoho Flow

  1. Select the trigger or action required. If you select a trigger, click Next.
  2. If there are no existing GitLab connections in your account, click Connect. Otherwise, click New connection.

    Alternatively, you can create a new connection by navigating to Settings, then Connections. Click Create connection and choose GitLab.
  3. Enter a connection name. If your GitLab account is privately hosted, you need to enter client ID, client secret, and the hostname.
    Client ID and Client secret - Log in to your GitLab account and navigate to Settings > Applications. Enter a name and the redirect URI as https://flow.zoho.com/oAuth/callBack. Select the scopes required and save.

    Hostname - If you access GitLab using https://www.example.com, enter www.example.com as the hostname.
  4. Click Authorize.
  5. Enter your GitLab credentials in the pop-up and click Authorize to allow Zoho Flow to access your account.

This trigger lets the concerned team know through email or chat when a new comment is added to a merge request.

Post on your team's internal collaboration channel and create a request in your incident management software when a new commit is made.

New issue

Create tasks, tickets, or to-dos for new issues using this trigger.

New merge request

This trigger lets you create an alert in your incident management software, send an email to the team, and post an update in chat when a new merge request is made.

Actions

Add comment to code snippet

This action allows you to add comments to a code snippet based on form entries, emails, or spreadsheet rows.

Add comment to commit

Use this action to add a comment to a commit when a comment is added in your team collaboration software.

Add comment to issue

Add comments to issues based on comments in your task management or helpdesk software.

Add comment to merge request

Add comments to specific merge requests based on to-dos or starred emails using this action.

Create issue

This action lets you create issues based on form entries, starred emails, or tasks.

Common problems

  1. I can't connect my privately hosted GitLab account to Zoho Flow.
    Zoho Flow supports only HTTPS requests over port 443. This means that your privately hosted GitLab account must be publicly accessible for Flow to connect.
  2. I get the error message "Unexpected code 403" when I try to switch on the flow.
    Make sure that your GitLab account has Master permissions for the project you're working on using the flow.
