How to switch from Basic Field Rules to Advanced Field Rules

If you realize that your use-case cannot be satisfied by the Basic Field Rules, you can switch to configuring advanced field rules to achieve your requirement with the Switch to Advanced Rules option.
You can have all of the Field Rules in either Basic Rule or Advanced Rule format. If you Switch to Advanced Rules, all of the rules that you have already configured and those that you will configure for your form will be in the Advanced Rules format.
If you want to return to configuring Basic Field Rules, you must delete all of the existing rules and start over.

How to switch?

  1. If you are configuring a Field Rule for the first time, you will find the option Switch to Advanced Rules in the top-right corner of the New Rule pop-up.

Conflicts while switching

You might face certain conflicts while switching from basic to advanced field rules. Check for the below changes to be made in your form or the rule configuration to smoothly transition from basic to advanced field rules:
  1. If a Condition field is placed after the Action field in your form, you must interchange the fields' positions in the rule configuration. Alternatively, you can change the position of fields in the form builder such that the Condition field is placed prior to the Action field.
  2. If a Formula field is used in the rules, field(s) involved in a formula must be placed prior to the Formula field in the form.
  3. You cannot switch to Advanced Rules if you have more than 20 conditions in any of your rules.
