Month-Year
The Month-Year field in Zoho Forms allows you to specify the range of months and years available for respondents to select. This field is particularly useful when you need to limit choices to a specific period for the respondents, such as booking appointments or selecting project timelines. For example, if you are organizing a series of workshops and need participants to select their preferred workshop month & year. By configuring the Month-Year field, you can allow respondents to only choose from the available months, ensuring accurate event planning and registration.
Initial Value
You can choose to prefill a specific month & year when respondents access your form. You can either choose a fixed month & year or dynamically autofill the month & year in which a respondent fills the form.
- To prefill the Month-Year field with a fixed month & year, select a month & year from the picker.
- To autofill the month & year on which the respondent fills the form, select Autofill Month & Year of Response.
Months to Display
This option allows you to disable specific months that are not available for selection, ensuring that respondents can only choose from the enabled months.
By default, all months are enabled for selection. To disable specific months, unselect the checkboxes next to the months you wish to disable. For example, if you unselect "January" this month will be unavailable for selection in the live form.
Allowed Months & Years
When configuring a Month-Year field, you have several options to control the range of months and years available for selection. For example, if you are creating a form for registering participants for seasonal events, you can use the "Future Months and Years" option to limit registrations to upcoming events only.
You can select from the following options:
- All Months and Years: Enable all months and years for selection.
- Past Months and Years: Enable only past months and years from the month of form response. Additionally, you can choose to include the month & year of form submission along with the past months and years.
- Future Months and Years: Enable only future months and years from the month of form response. Additionally, you can choose to include the month & year of form submission along with the future months and years.
- Month & Year of Response: Enable only the month & year in which the form is submitted.
- Start From: Specify a month & year from which all subsequent months and years will be enabled for selection.
- End On: Specify a month & year until which all previous months and years will be enabled for selection.
- Range: Select a month & year to start from and a month & year to end on. Only the months and years between the selected range will be enabled for selection.
Setting up Start From, End On, and Range for Allowed Months & Years
For the Start From, End On, and Range options, you can select from any of the following options:

Month & Year from the picker

Month & Year of Response
-
Month & Year from the other Date/ Date-Time/ Month-Year fields in the form

Customize using Additional Options
Note: You can only select the Date/ Date-Time/ Month-Year fields that are configured above the Month-Year field that you are setting up.
Additional Options in Allowed Months & Years
You can further customize the Start From, End On, and Range options for the Month-Year field by using additional settings.
- Select Start From, End On, or Range under Allowed Months & Years.
- Click Additional Options.
- In the pop-up, select the month & year from which the range should start or end.
- Select Plus (+) or Minus (-) to configure the interval from the start or end month-year.
- Enter the interval as a number or select from other form fields that are configured above the Month-Year field you are setting up. You can choose from Number, Formula, Rating, Slider, Dropdown, and Radio fields to set the field responses as the interval by clicking the icon. Ensure that values are assigned to the dropdown and radio choices to include them.
- Select a unit for the interval in Months or Years.
- Click Done. The summary of your configuration will appear under Properties.
- Click the summary box to change the configuration, or Clear to reset.
For example, imagine you are setting up a form for project planning where the project start date is flexible. You can set a range to start from a selected month and extend for a duration of 6 months using a +6 months interval.
Note:
- To rearrange any field in the form that is associated with a Month-Year field, you must remove the association of the field with the respective Month-Year field.
- Month-Year range validations will not be applicable for updated records (record edit, task edit, approval edit).
