This document talks about the various accessibility controls in detail and how they can be used for an inclusive form filling experience.
Screen Reader Compatibility
Forms built using Zoho Forms work well with screen readers, which means those with visual impairment can hear everything happening on their form when the
Accessibility feature is enabled. We have conducted manual testing methods, which involved utilizing assistive technologies like VoiceOver, NVDA, and Narrator, using in-browser developer tools.
Focus Order and Keyboard Navigation
People who rely on screen readers need to be able to navigate the form using the keyboard. A form built using Zoho Forms is fully navigable using just the keyboard. Once the screen reader is enabled, the focus moves logically between fields and buttons on enabling the
Accessibility feature, typically mimicking the visual layout of the form.

Critical information such as error messages or mandatory fields is inherently highlighted by default, catering to individuals with low vision. This design choice ensures that essential information stands out prominently, making it more perceptible for users with visual impairments. By default, these visual cues serve as an effective means of conveying important details, fostering a more accessible and user-friendly experience for individuals with varying visual needs.
Error Identification
When a user submits the form with errors, Zoho Forms will visually highlight the problematic fields which usually involves highlighting the border around the field.
Alongside the visual cue, Zoho Forms will display a specific error message next to the highlighted field. For example, for an invalid email format, the message could be "Please enter a valid email address." These default error messages are fully customizable by the form creator.
Utilize underlined links in Zoho Forms when you wish to provide users with additional context or navigate them to another page without overloading the current one. The underlining of links serves to visually emphasize their existence, ensuring users recognize and understand the interactive nature of the link. This practice aids in preventing unintentional clicks and enhances accessibility, particularly for users with color-blindness, for whom underlining is a clear indicator of hyperlinks.
Zoom Level
Zoho Forms provides the functionality of page zoom with a capability to magnify content up to 200%. This feature is particularly beneficial for individuals with visual impairments, as it allows them to increase the size of form fields and text. By enabling users to zoom in on the page, Zoho Forms enhances accessibility, ensuring that individuals with varying levels of visual acuity can comfortably see and interact with the form elements.
Icons Explained
A textual description ( alt text ) for each icon, wherever applicable has been provided to clearly explain the function or meaning of the icon. Screen readers can then announce this text to users who rely on them.
