Audit Logs track the user and system actions performed across all records in the Zoho IoT application. This document provides steps to view these audit logs.
Note: Users with the Administrator and Manager profile can access entire organization’s audit logs, whereas Developer and Standard users can view their audit logs only.

Note: Additional details of the models/managed entities on which the action is performed can be viewed by clicking on the relevant text links in the Audit Log entry.
Access to Audit Logs
Viewing Audit Logs is user-activity based. Users with Administrator and Manager privilege can view all logs, but users with Developer and Standard privilege can view only the logs of activities performed by them.
For example, consider an Energy Monitoring solution to monitor Generators in several buildings on a campus.
- Asset Generators A1, A2, and A3 are placed in Location building A
- Asset Generators B1, B2, and B3 are placed in Location building B
- Asset Generators C1, C2, and C3 are placed in Location building C
The users who can view the audit logs in different scenarios is provided below:
- A user in the application with Administrator and Manager privileges will be able to view all the audit logs of the activities performed by all users on these generators in buildings A, B, and C.
- If User1 created the Generator model and later edited the same model. The following users will be able to view the Audit Logs of these actions.
Administrator and Manager
User1
- User2 deleted managed entities Generators B1 and C1. The following users will be able to view the Audit Logs of this action.
Administrator and Manager
User2
User1 will not be able to view the audit logs of the actions not performed by user User1.
Note:
- An user with the Administrator privilege will be able to view the audit logs for the model/module that the user does not have permission. This is because the user with Administrator privilege is eligible to change the permission for the non permitted module.
- Similarly, a user without Administrator privilege will not be able to view the audit logs of other users even though he has permission for the model/module.
Troubleshooting Using Audit Logs
Case 1 : My superior in my BMS application made some updates to a few of my records. I am unable to view those updates in the audit log. However, the same is present in the timeline.
Your superior must possess Administrator privileges, and so can access the entire organization's audit logs, while users with other profiles can only view their and subordinates' audit logs.
If you do have Administrator privilege and still unable to view the update related audit logs, please email us at support@zohoiot.com with a description of your issue, the record ID, and screenshots of the timeline and audit log.
