Understanding Datapoint Groups

In Zoho IoT applications, Datapoint Group is a collection of various datapoint templates tailored for specific use cases. These templates serve as a predefined set of metrics or measurements that are relevant to the particular application or scenario. By organising these templates within a Datapoint Group, it becomes easier to manage and apply consistent metrics across different products or models.

For example, consider the datapoint group titled Environmental Monitoring, which includes the following datapoints: O3, TVOC IAQ, CO2, Humidity, and Temperature. These datapoints are essential for comprehensive monitoring of environmental conditions, allowing for accurate tracking and analysis of air quality and climatic factors and can be easily imported to any device product/ device model used for environment monitoring.

NotesNote: Direct realtime datapoints (without computation) are supported in datapoint groups.

When datapoints from the datapoint group are imported to a product or model, it allows for the comparison and aggregation of common datapoints or measurements across various products within a model.

NotesNote: Datapoints with the same name from two different datapoint groups cannot be imported into a model or a product.

Creating Custom Datapoint Groups

If you need specific datapoints that are not available in the default groups, you can create a custom datapoint group and import datapoints from existing datapoint groups and add new datapoints templates in the developer application or in the end application for the additional metrics you want to monitor.
