Adding a device using a model
Once a device is added through the product gallery or by defining a custom device product option, additional device instance of the device product can be created using the device model option. Each device product is assigned to a specific device model; a single model may include several device products. This approach lets you select a model first, then choose from its available products, simplifying device addition.
All Device operations require necessary permissions. Refer User Profiles document for more details.
To add a device using the device model approach,
- Access the End Application.
- Select Devices > Devices in the left pane.
- Click on Add Device.
- Select Add Using Model and click Proceed.
- Select the device model to which the required device product is associated. For this illustration, Home Gateway device model is selected.
- Select the required device product. For this illustration, Arduino device product is selected.
- Click Add.
- Click Ok in the device registered successfully dialog box.
- Proceed with the Onboarding Assistant for guided help in onboarding your device.
