Configuring Fields: Device Models
This document provides a detailed overview of the various fields you will encounter when creating a device model in the Zoho IOT application.
Field Name | Description |
Model Name | A label to identify your device model. |
Description | A brief description of the device model. |
Allowed Profiles | The device model will be accessible to the profiles listed in this field. |
Example: Configuring a Industrial Gateway device model in the developer application.
- Plural Name: "Industrial Gateway" - Name used to identify the model in the application, ideally aligns with the use case or a category for similar devices. Here, the model can be used for gateway devices that are used for industrial purposes.
- Singular Name: "Industrial Gateway" - Name used in the notification banner generated for the model.
- Description: "Model for all gateway types that are used for industrial purposes" - Provides additional information about the device model.
- Allowed Profiles: "Administrator, System Integrator" - The users associated to the profiles selected in the field will have access to the device model. For example, if a user is associated to the profile called technician in the application, they will not be able to access or view this device model and the devices based on this instance.
